You genuinely think a bigger sign will make a difference? Wow. |
I've resorted to public shaming on neighborhood Facebook. Love my Ring camera for this. A few a$$holes like you pitch a fit and show everyone who they are, but it has worked to stop you all from using MY PROPERTY as your dog's bathroom. You are always welcome to let your dog shit and piss in front of your house. No one is stopping you there. |
You're doing mental gymnastics to justify this. There is no curbside easement. I am a dog owner, and I agree: dogs need to poop and pee on their own property or in dog runs |
|
if someone truly has a problem, put up a sign and people should try to abide by it.
i try to avoid having my dog go to the bathroom on people's lawns, but when I'm walking her, sometimes she has to go. It's okay, stop being such a baby about everything, as long as it's cleaned up, who would care? |
Here's an idea: if you own a dog and let it poop on other people's lawns, you should make a sign that says dogs welcome on your lawn. Dogs pooping on others' property should default to an opt-in, not an opt‐out. The default is don't poop on others' lawns.7 |
if people pick up their dog's crap, i don't care if they go on my lawn. why would I? if you have an unfenced front lawn, and someone is walking their leashed dog from within the public right of way, you really can't complain. do you get angry because rabbits and raccoons poop and pee on your lawn? |
| The anti-dog pooping and peeing outside whenever they need to while on their walks people are the biggest nutjobs on all of DCUM and that’s a HIGH bar to clear. |
Yeah, if you want to treat your lawn like it's inside your house, fence and roof it. If you have an open front lawn, accept that people and animals might occasionally tread on it. |
DP. I don’t let my dog set foot on other people’s property, but in my neighborhood, it’s very clear that the strips of grass in between the streets and the sidewalks are not privately owned. Homeowners don’t maintain that grass. Our HOA fees cover a landscaper mowing that grass weekly. Most people in my neighborhood have dogs, most of them walk their dogs, and everyone lets their dogs use that grass. No one is upset about it, as long as poop is immediately picked up and disposed of properly. Fortunately, we have public trash cans all over the place, which makes it as easy as possible for people to do so. There’s one house with a corner lot. They have a sign asking people not to let their dogs poop there. It’s unclear where the boundary is between their property and community property (they live next to a forested area with a public walking trail). No problem, I just hustle my dog past there. I agree that people shouldn’t let their dogs enter other people’s property, but as you can see from this thread, what is considered private property varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. |
I think they key is that everyone should try to be a good neighbor. If you have some psycho next door who poops themselves over the possibility that an animal might put their tiny feet on their lawn... try (as you do) your best to keep your dogs off their lawn and hope they learn to accept they can't control everything. By the same token, understand that if dog owners clean up after their pets, it's really a non-issue if someone occasionally lets their dog pee on a corner of your property. |
I think it's just one insane, a&&hole dog owner just repeating the same shit over and over and over again. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ENTER MY PROPERTY TO LET YOUR DOG SHIT ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
When you start paying my mortgage and property taxes, I'll take your dumb opinion into consideration. Until then, stay the F away from my lawn. You people are insufferable. Entitled a$$holes! |
yeah... i do. if i'm walking in the street and my dog is on a leash and walks across your grass and goes pee, it's fine. |
see, i'd argue that the person who thinks they control all open space in the world and can tell other people and animals what to do in public is the entitled a-hole. |
Ma’am, please read aloud what you just wrote. Do you hear yourself? And you think other people are insufferable a$$holes? |
