He was a MUCH bigger star than her, at the time, she was dazzled. And I think she's a balanced and caring human, a nurturer. She looked after him and he needed that, but ultimately got bored of it. Is he a scorpio by any chance? |

I agree with PPs - Jen G was head over heels for him, and unfortunately he knew it and wasn’t very good to her. I think he respects her as a mother - and is probably very grateful she’s the mother to his children - but he was very disrespectful to her as a partner. Remember when he thanked everyone BUT HER when he won the Oscar for Argo? I don’t think that was a simple slip - I think he genuinely always thought she was lesser than him. |

I agree with all of this but especially the bolded. It was a shotgun wedding after under a year and I think they chafed throughout their marriage. His being narcissitic, a gambler, and alcoholic impacted the whole relationship. Shit show. I would like to hope in their older age (and with his current drama) he is grateful to JG. However their relationship started, she's been the backbone of that family. I remember some interview with Damon where he was low key shaming Jen (weird with his non celeb wife) about basically not wanting fame or to act much but also praising that she made boatloads on endorsements for very little work. Maybe it's a facade and she's pissed she's not getting big acting roles? Don't get that vibe. And now she's showing up during this time to help the father of her children. Whatever the dynamic was like 15+ years ago is irrelevant at this stage. She seems to consistently show up for the well being of her family. |

I think she has grown a lot as a person over the years. I remember an interview with her after they were married and she was so dopey, used a baby voice when talking about him, and seemed totally under his spell in a weirdly subservient sort of way. |

Agree, she has matured a lot. Part is his allure then was that he was A list and it may have been a little of, wow, this guy picked me! I think that sort of thing mattered to her early on. She also cheated on her husband before Ben. |

He was a smart, charming and charismatic Oscar winner who looked like Clark Kent and wasn’t threatened by her success (supposedly her ex was). She absolutely couldn’t believe he picked her. Of course the suburban stability bored him very quickly, especially once she moved far from her Alias/Electra personas after becoming a mom. |

He still is, just needs to get away from J Lo and her glam squad before he is botoxed and filtered to death. Seriously, when I look at pictures of my brother during his divorce process and a couple years later, it was such a difference. The stress is real and showed in his face and get the same vibe with Affleck. Not my favorite person in the world (ugh, the back tattoo) but he is handsome in a good natural sort of way. |

He thanked her. He thanked for working on their marriage. Then they did the SNL skit together that a PP linked to mock his speech and repair the damage. "If you didn't see, a visibly flustered Ben fast-talked his way through a thoughtful speech (probably to avoid the intrusive Jaws music), but despite his rush, he didn't forget to thank wife Jennifer Garner. Here's what he did say, though: "I wanna thank my wife, who I don't normally associate with Iran…but I wanna thank you for working on our marriage for ten Christmases. It's good. It is work, but it's the best kind of work. And there's no one I'd rather work with." |

| Could he be gravitating toward JG again? He has move physically close to her house. He recently asked her to come perform for him in a new Netflix show while he directs her. There were photos of him meeting her new boyfriend. He was married to her for over a decade and had 3 kids. He could soon crave her back. |
