What does genocide mean to you? Palestine's population growth has outpaced Israel, and outpaces most nations on earth. Normally, genocide involves death. When you say genocide, what do you mean?

Seems to be a way of trying to get Israel to not respond against Hamas?

That said, I wouldn’t hesitate even a moment to stand against anyone in my community threatening or preparing to take physical action against any group, absolutely including Jews in the community. How is this even a question? We are all humans first and foremost, and nobody is deserving of being terrorized by others, Palestinians, Jews, and everyone in between.

+1

I support Jews in my community and the country. I don’t want to see Jews targeted.

Israel is a different question. Let’s all make sure people feel safe right here in America.

great but you can’t claim to be a friend of the Jews and also think that it’s OK to destroy Israel.

I am not sure what you mean. I am not going to promise to get a rifle and defend Israel personally like Bill Clinton did. Anyway, I am sorry you are hurting and I am sorry for what you are going through.

We need to figure out how to fix what is going on on our college campuses and in some of our cities.

It’s pretty clear how to fix it. Universities need to expel any student from another country here on a Visa participating in these protests. American citizens need to be told they will be expelled if they have any language/signs threatening Jews and/or supporting Hamas.

You don’t think that will confuse the students here learning about the constitution? The one that explicitly prohibits the government from restricting political speech?

Restricting political speech is very much prohibited when it comes to the 1st amendment.
Celebrating terrorism and supporting terrorism is not prohibited.

Exactly. I am not a Rubio fan, but I gotta say I agree with him here. It makes me angry that people have come to the US to benefit from the opportunities offered here, yet hate us and our values and actively cheer against us and our allies. And if you don’t think that’s going on you are in serious denial. I see it on the college campus where I work. They are here to extract whatever benefit they can without any respect for what this country stands for.

Well it all starts with "othering" them through propaganda etc and for years now it has been very fashionable on elite US college campuses to be intensely against Israel.

It’s just when there are flare ups in Israel that the campus tensions rises. Most of the time it’s fine. Same with any other conflict/current news.

A Jewish baby was found baked to death in an oven. Is that what you mean by “flare ups in Israel”?

LIES!

Weren't right wingers the ones chanting Jews will now replace us?

As leftists defined them, yes. Sane people know they are simply Neo-Nazis who were, socialists in Germany.

lol wut

Nazis were a socialist party.

Seriously with this crap again?

Honey, just because a word is in the name of a country or party doesn’t mean it’s truly socialist or democratic.

When they tell you what they are, believe them.

What does this even mean?

It means that the Nazi party said they were democratic socialists. Normally, we take people at their word about how they identify, no?

You’re a moron.

Is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea democratic or a republic?

DP. A name is not already accurate but the Nazis were actually socialist - they nationalized industry and centrally controlled the economy to redistribute wealth

They were not socialists. They were fascists.

They killed the SPD, who were the actual democratic socialists.

I'd consider them left wing due to their statist approach.

I asked if they were democratic or a republic.

There is not much daylight between the "pro-Palestinian" protesters and the pro-Hamas protesters. The chants, the signs, the rhetoric, the interviews with participants are often very much pro-Hamas.
Sorry, Israel is not committing genocide. You can continue to repeat it over and over but it will just make you appear ignorant.

Sure, Hitler didn’t think he was committing genocide either. Israeli propaganda is not going to change the public opinion and the reality on the ground, Gaza is a death zone. There is not much difference between Israel supporters and people support ethnic cleansing, see how that works? Wars in the age of social media will be very different from wars of the past, information is not in the hands of select few who can use it to suit their narrative.

Because students that serve in another country’s army are more American than students that condemn the televised mass killings of children.

Neither. They have a centralized authority.

Participating in a UN framework to allow 100 aid trucks in per day is not genocide.

A good example of an actual siege genocide was the Siege of Leningrad, which the Nazis implemented and which killed 1.5 million people in 2 years.

And FYI — Hitler absolutely knew he was committing genocide and openly stated it, although the word didn’t exist then.

When you say death, what do you mean? They have a 33% higher population growth rate vs Israel. This is net, when counting births and deaths. So I'm trying to understand what you mean by genocide and ethnic cleansing and death. What are these metaphors for, to you? You cannot mean it factually because the facts don't support it.

So, “othering” of Jews is a problem but it is perfectly fine to throw other minorities in that bucket and incite average Americans to rage war against them? Israelis are not here to extract benefits? I have not come across a country that has extracted more benefits from American taxpayers than Israelis.

People get very hung up on “these baddies are from your team, not mine.” Both extremes of the political spectrum lean heavily totalitarian. It seems more useful to view situations through that prism because extremism on either end often spells trouble.

+1000. To say the Nazi party was "socialist" is ignorant of actual history. Yes, the Nazi party started out as Socialist when it was formed by Anton Drexler in 1919, but that after Hitler took it over, he replaced socialism with nationalism and embraced far right ideology. Perhaps you did not know that the Dachau concentration camp was originally set up to imprison socialists, communists and trade unionists?

In April 1933 communists, socialists, democrats, and Jews were purged from the German civil service, and trade unions were outlawed the following month. That July Hitler banned all political parties other than his own, and prominent members of the German Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party were arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps. Lest there be any remaining questions about the political character of the Nazi revolution, Hitler ordered the purging of any remnants of the former socialism in the Nazi party with the murder of Nazi party leader Gregor Strasser, an act that was carried out on June 30, 1934, during the Night of the Long Knives. And with that, any remaining traces of socialist thought in the Nazi Party had been extinguished.

To try and suggest that Hitler's Nazi Party was "socialist" or in any way leftist is ludicrously false and completely ignorant of history.
