You said you don’t want your teens learning about those things from a book. Do you prefer the interwebs? TV? YouTube? Pornhub? Go ask your teen if they know about them. And where they learned about them. |
Because it’s a veiled attempt to attack LGBTQ+ youth. |
These “youth” don’t need to be living out their sex lived at school. Stay on topic please. |
So you agree we should ban the bible on the exact argument you provided |
So when I was a high school girl, using the girls' bathroom and going to prom with my high school boyfriend, was that living out my sex life at school? Or does that not apply to people who are cis/het? |
I grew up going to a Catholic school in Potomac and kids were getting HJs in the back of the rooms at school dances, myself included. Middle school in the 90s in a conservative catholic school. What do you think is happening now? Get over yourself. Your kids are into sex, one way or another. |
You are confusing urinating with sex. Ok. There is only so much we can help you with. |
Kids are actually much less sexually active than they were when we were in high school and middle school in the 90s. |
So when trans people use bathrooms at school, is that or is that not "living out their sex lives at school"? One or the other, please. I would be happy to cross "BATHROOM PANIC!!!!!!!!!!1111111" off the list of culture-war issues. |
Because they are all watching half naked girls on tik tok/instagram and rubbing one out in their bathroom These books are nowhere as scandalous as social media. |
That may be true but the books still do not belong in schools, as tik tok does not |
I think the books belong in schools. I think professionals (educators, school librarians) should make the decisions about which books belong in schools. I think if you don't want your kids to read those books, it's your right as a parent to forbid your kids from checking out or reading those books, just like if you don't want your kids on Tiktok, it's your right as a parent to forbid your kids from using Tiktok. |
Well you and I disagree! Can you stand that? |
Yes, obviously we disagree. You have your opinion, I have my opinion. I don't purport to speak on behalf of all parents and a unanimous community. |
No one is “opting your child out.” Once again, you are perfectly free to buy your own kids whatever graphically sexual material you choose. The point is that it does not belong in school libraries. That this is the hill you want to die on just makes it abundantly clear that we’re dealing with LWNJ extremists. |
