I certainly don’t blame any teenagers who heard rumors and didn’t report them, although I wonder if they did and if adults did. I’m following the story, and offering support to the community and especially to the boys who were abused and reported it. Thank God they did. They are heroes in a horrific story.

Current upper school parent— there were no rumors of the abuse until last month. Everyone was shocked. Bendann was very successful in manipulating his victims into silence.

The school openly allowed him to sleep over with students AGAINST school policy. The school clearly knew about it and did NOTHING. What kind of administrators allow teachers to sleep over with students with zero supervision by any other adult? Gilman already had a horrific recent history of student sex assault by teachers.

Can you please share your source that the administration knew he was having sleepovers? Thanks.

I do wonder who that was! But what was the administration special to do, lock that teacher in a closet? They can’t prevent an adult from attending a public hearing.

Don’t you think investigators already know? One hopes headmaster was directly asked under oath if he heard the rumors of teacher babysitting the students and forcing the students to strip naked in the parks and then run naked. DP

You really think as a parent that you have half a clue about what was or wasn't known to school administrators? Come on.

PP, it’s no use replying to that person. They will never hear anything that contradicts their own worldview. Their own issues are so overwhelming that they believe they’re an expert on what happened at Gilman. They very much are not.

The Gilman community needs support, not random accusations from an amateur criminologist.

Yes, I would certainly hope that investigators would ask about that! But what I’m asking is if anyone has any evidence as of now that the administration knew. The previous poster claimed that the administration knew, so I was wondering how that poster got that information. I assume they have access to some verified facts, since they stated that so confidently.

People expect any teacher who went to court to support a known pediphile to be immediately fired. If school continues to employ such a teacher who would openly support a criminal who raped children, what exactly would you think? School has no intention of expelling rapists from its school. Wow. Just wow.

The survivors of the rape culture at Gilman need support, not defensive posturing from the institution's sheep.

No one other than bendann himself has been asked anything "under oath" yet - the rub will be when the civil suits are filed and the emails or text messages come out that show notice evidence.

Why aren’t school administrators and teachers getting questioned under oath? Easier to lie?

all that has happened so far is one preliminary hearing that denied bond to chris. admin and teachers will be questioned under oath when the civil suits are filed.

Thank you to 20:58. To the above poster, do you imagine there’s the slightest possibility that headmaster knew nothing about the 15 years of frequent babysitting and sleepovers of his faculty with students... in blatant violation of school policy? Please be honest here.

Look, I don’t blame you for being triggered AF, but you are so out of line here. You’re not helping the survivors. You’re starting rumors (like claiming that administration knew all about alcoholic sleepovers etc). You are advocating a rush to judgment, and lingering with immense relish on how much this is going to cost Gilman. None of this will help Bendann’s victims.
