My first year just got home for the holiday and after all the stress and uncertainty, I can say that it all works out for the best (not just for my kid but for all the other 22 grads we know.)

I am the first '22 parent. Yes, the '22 version of this thread was a favorite for me, too. And you're right... it all works out, even after all the stress and uncertainty of the process!

Congratulations

ditto on the congrats

I grew up about an hour from West Chester and I never gave it much thought as a high schooler. I was investigating it for my daughter for a short while, though, and started following a few IG accounts for the town. Such a cute area!

Hi, I'm the PP who posted about Kent State and West Chester. Both were my DD's safety schools and she's not incredibly excited for either, but I think part of that is we had a very, let's say... low energy tour guide when we went to West Chester last month. I think if we went back for another tour she'd probably be pretty excited. I thought the surrounding area was really cute too. I'm happy that she got in there, since I'd like to have her be within a 4 hour driving radius.

Anonymous wrote:Hi there to all you '23 parents.

My DC graduated in '22. The first acceptance came about a week before Thanksgiving.

Thinking of this gives me bittersweet memories. A lot has changed since then, including a terrible unexpected loss in our family. But DC is away at college, coming home tomorrow night. I'm so proud of my DC.

Good luck to all!!

I’m sorry for your loss! So glad your DC is at school and persevering. Enjoy your time with them.

So sorry for your loss. Thanks for sending kind words to the rest of us.

Just wanted to let you know that my nephew is going there - to West Chester - it's his first year. He loves it. It's been a great experience for him. He wasn't super driven in highschool but he is finding the classes inspiring and he is excited about his major and he's happy with the school overall. Hope this helps.

That is so strange - you are the second person now who has told me the tour guide they had there was no good. Makes me wonder if it was the same person?

Did you look at any of the other PA state schools? We have Slippery Rock on our list, but my daughter is a likely dance major. A friend of mine is a Millersville alum.

Same — top award at Juniata.

Congrats to you both!

Sure nice to have options!

My child did well there, and it was great for him to graduate debt free.

My daughter said she had heard about a couple Radford acceptances in the past couple weeks. (She’s a junior, but Radford is on her list)

I saw a VCU tonight

Mine has been accepted to University of Louisville and West Virginia University, both with enough merit aid to equal VA in state tuition at JMU or VT. My DC has friends who have been accepted to VCU and University of Minnesota.

Accepted IU honors, deferred UGA

University of Arizona, medicine major. Strong merit aid. Would highly encourage others with strong GPA to check it out since they have rolling admissions and take 2-4 weeks to hear back with acceptance+package.
