T20 Universities list predictions

LOL, plenty of kids from the NE...my DC's whole dorm floor was kids from the Tri-State area. Trust me my kid is a Military brat that has lived throughout the world and has experienced and made lasting friendships from youth from all kinds of cultures...it was a feat to live with the obnoxious morons they had to live with from the Tri-State area. Thankfully they adapted as hard as it was.

My guess is that OP is one of a small number or perhaps THE one who starts these contentious ranking threads. In time, they always devolve into the same arguments: 1) some Ivies are not REAL Ivies; 2) Columbia and Chicago are not as good as other top-rated schools; 3) schools ranked 14-25 are unworthy; 4) UVA is overrated, racist, and unknown outside Virginia; 5) tech-focused schools are going to rise in the rankings at the expense of many others. When you see these themes pounded again and again, they are the same poster. The point of this thread being Top 20 is to exclude UVA as a top school and then to call supporters “boosters and strivers.” These are common code words of this highly repetitive poster. Basically, the ranking threads are troll posts hoping to stir the pot and create animosity towards certain schools. Don’t fall for it.

T20 is typical reference for ranking of schools. T25 is seldom used.

People just naturally think in the multiples of 10.
If you look at the colleges list T25 makes much more sense.

No

Then why is law school referred to t14?

T20 makes sense because that’s the historical cut off before you hit the first publics

So, the point of limiting the conversation to the Top 20 is to exclude top publics? That doesn’t sound like an open inquiry and supports a previous poster’s notion that this thread was constructed to exclude UVA, then introduce UVA, decry UVA “boosterism,” and claim it’s no good. The UVA troll is back!

The better students from the tri state area would have gone to better colleges so I am not surprised at the caliber of students who went to UVA. They were probably the kids who got rejected across the board from all the northeast, ny and west coast schools and they wanted to go away.

I often feel offended when people on this board knock NYU down even though their business, law and med programs are excellent. I wouldn’t try to argue on this board though. Pretty sure 95% of everyone on here would say UVA is better.

Agree, I think you have the formula down. Imagine you didn't get into one of the better colleges hence your angst? If you are trolling at 8:00pm on a Tuesday night might I suggest you pick up a hobby? Maybe study more?

You are right. I am upstairs because my in laws are visiting. I am highly agitated and taking it out on an anonymous forum on college admissions even though my oldest child is only in middle school.

I am so annoyed (not at you or this board). I need a drink.

Pretty sad but ok. Closet bars are a thing especially when undesirables are in town. But you know, if you hate your in-laws (strange) and feel the need to post stupid shit on an anonymous board have at it. Maybe seek some counseling and stock the closet with Tito's and Sailor Jerry. Otherwise STFU and stick to stuff you know about.

Insulting me doesn’t change the fact that UVA isn’t as desired in Boston or NYC. Dh and I are both ivy educated. I would never have this conversation in real life because it would make us sound obnoxious. This thread is about t20 schools and UVA isn’t in the top 20.

I’m going back downstairs to hang out with my in laws now.

Why do UVA strivers always want to turn everything about UVA? Not everything revolves around UVA.

NP-Have no connection to UVA but the same can be said about you. Why do you always have to bash an obviously good school? PP's post is spot on and I give zero F's about UVA. This board is trolls, tiger mom's, day drinker's and losers...good riddance.

I moved to the DMV a decade ago from NYC and did not know UVA was a top school. Over the years, I occasionally mentioned that outside the DC area, I don’t think UVA is considered a top school. I still believe this despite living in VA where people LOVE UVA.

I was just in Manhattan and many of my friends attended T20 schools. They all want to attend ivy schools like their parents. UVA is never mentioned as a safety or a target and definitely not as a reach.

I also have a teenager and of course he will apply to UVA but it is not somewhere he wants to go.

Out of state, UVa is easily as difficult as any Ivy school to get into.

As a bored 18 year old...insulting another 18 year old that has deficient frontal lobes is amusing. How's Radford working out for you? I charge $15.00 an hour for math tutoring. You need help with your college geometry?

My statement is based on having knowledge of the achievements and admissions decisions for one of the top public schools in another state. How about you?

Top 20 is nebulous. It's not exactly the top 20 on USnews and there's other rankings out there. And yes that does include the the rest of the top 25 and LACs. T20 has always been more of a slang term that encompasses more than 20 schools.

UVA is an excellent school but it is not as difficult to get into as an Ivy. This is just false.
