FCPS new info on masks

How long will it take for there to be threads about how when teachers are still in a mask, it’s unfair to the kids in their classes? Or the speculation about whether masked teachers are vaxxed or not.

I fully accepted continued mask wearing. My issue is that these guidelines have changed and fcps could have sent out something this weekend. And they want to find any reason to keep it going instead of just giving in.

What exactly is your evidence for that (keeping staff masked)?

A plan was given showing the metrics for masks to come off. The metrics changed on Friday. What other information do you have that demonstrates FCPS wants “to find any reason to keep it (mask wearing by staff) going”? Please share the other opportunities they had for staff to not wear them and where they said no.

They aren’t releasing a new statement now. They are meeting tomorrow and then with principals tomorrow. March 1 is not a thing anymore since all guidelines changed so we should be allowed to be maskless tomorrow.

I think they will stick with the 7 day level thing and make Saturday day 1 and make us wait through this week.

I'm sure that will happen. It's highly likely any FCPS teacher or staff member is unvaccinated. Yes there are a few but most people would be hard pressed to name more than 1-2 people in their buildings and even then it's usually speculation. Teachers will probably mostly continue to mask due to various factors, including whether a lot of their students are out with "allergies" at the same time and the impossibility of getting a decent sub with short notice in many cases.

I am waiting for the complaints when teachers choose to keep masking and how kids cannot learn effectively.

I’m an ES teacher. I don’t see many benefits of staying masked when allowed to unmask. Are you thinking it would be beneficial in case of close contact and related policies?

My kids have been masked all year and both have had multiple colds and one had strep. But interestingly, never covid.

+1. So. Many. Colds. I keep waiting for our immunity debt to be paid so it settles down to just a normal year of bugs. Hopefully by next year.

We even had illness rip through my masked workplace with everyone in their own office.

March 1 is when districts have to accept this. But I think it was in effect when signed by youngkin.

Maybe 2, depending on how you count it. The CDC announced the changes on Friday.
