Hayfield Football Coach Fired

You can’t really say they dodged anyone because Overton just got there. They were able to get Riverdale Baptist on the schedule.

The criticism was nonsenical. Freedom scheduled DeMatha and Varina last year. The top FCPS programs almost never schedule anyone outside their local sandbox.

Yup, scheduled DeMatha and then tried to cheat their way to a win. Other than that...2023: scheduled a bunch of weak public schools; 2022: scheduled a bunch of weak public schools; 2021: a bunch of joke public school teams and an above-average Stone Bridge team (we have no way of knowing they are good as they played no one we know is good) that beat them; 2020: played a bunch of joke public schools; 2019: same story, different year...Oh, and that you think Varina, a 3 loss team that was barely a top 20 team among public school programs in VA to be good indicates that you don't know what a good high school football team is.

I could go on for days. Long and short, it wasn't until Overton had his absolute best team at Freedom, that he scheduled a consistently good to great program. And even then, in that game against DeMatha, when things started getting a bit rough for Overton, he tried to cheat to get the W. No one talks about how he tried strong arming DeMatha into restarting the game early in the AM after DeMatha kids would have a 90 minute commute there and back Friday night/Saturday day or the other underhanded things he did in "trying" to get the rest of the game replayed after the weather delays (even the refs noted he made no good faith effort to really get the game resumed at a later date). God DCUM "sports fans" sure don't know much about the programs/people they claim to care about.

Also, it is "nonsensical." "Nonsenical" isn't a word.

I remember a little but how do I know how far Dematha kids have to travel vs his Freedom kids coming from PWC which is over an hour and busing arrangements or was the game played at Freedom. How do you KNOW the refs notes anything as when do they talk to the public, so unless ur on the inside of one of them two programs, how valid or credible is your info.

It made the rounds extensively on Twitter. InsideNova or the Fairfax times, it was one of the two, and the PG Journal also reported on it. Also, I was on a WCAC upper division coaching staff at the time and while we are all rivals, we are also almost all friendly. And I will say this about the DeMatha coaching staff: they are among the most upstanding folks I've met. If they said it happened, it happened. And they said it happened. But again, InsideNova and/or the Fairfax Times and the PG Journal reported on it. Everybody who wanted to know knew. Keep grasping at straws though.

Also, it is "DeMatha," not "Dematha." Show a little respect to a fine academic institution.

Also, the game was at Freedom. It was abundantly clear from the OP that the game was played at Freedom.

Wait, could you explain the DeMatha thing?

I remember people saying it was a good match up, Freedom was up, and they got rained out. They scheduled to redo and got rained out again. Don’t hear anything about any cheating.

They were not up. They were getting beat. It originally got postponed due to lighting. Then all the other stuff happened with rescheduling the game. It never happened so they wiped it off their schedule like it never happened.

They deserved to be in the playoffs more than Hayfield.

Robinson Girls Cross Country team won States today. So three state winning teams for Robinson in 2024. Football ain't everything.

You can’t say anything without being an Overton Supporter or biased towards FCPS, that side has all the English majors and know how everything is supposed to be ran.

Hayfield Football is a bunch of cheaters. That's the bottom line. You all suck.

The Robinson lacrosse parents are every bit as obnoxious as the Hayfield football parents.

Are you saying the lightning saved Freedom and they avoided the rematch because they were afraid of losing? Is that what you are trying to say?

I said what I said. If you want to read into and interpret it to fit your narrative by all means.

Okay so you said hayfield was down, the game got called due to weather, and was never made up. Got it.
