The club I would think is gone is Lou Fusz…the GA hasn’t really posted them on social media during champions cup…one big tell is on the first champions cup post, all the major clubs were tagged. Not LFA

They are known for having ridiculously early tryouts and they wouldn’t be able to say ECNL. MFA Morris is in shambles. They are trying to merge with other clubs and other regions of theirs. My guess is they will also get some FA 2012’s that are not happy with the MFA merge (a few have younger siblings at STA already and logistics wise it makes sense). STA is known for getting people from MFA (because of the BS) and pda white (when they figure things out, and even so more this year).

I think it just matters if STA wants it or is betting on GA/MLSN

To be fair, this is the first year of the mls next / ga alliance. I don’t think they are playing hard ball right now and will allow clubs to have boys teams in ECNL.

Next year I think is where they start pressuring these clubs

Those teams have been more established and not been poached by the shiny new toy that was Fox.🦊 take a look at their 2 youngest age groups, to 2011s and 2012s. The future of the program and a key look at what it will be a few years down the road. Bottom of the table, basically. Those poor boys would lose 95% of their games in MLS Next.

In the 2 youngest age groups I would agree. The Academy teams 2010 and older will be fine, particularly if they bioband a few of the Q3/4 players on existing Academy and ECNL teams.

Am hoping going from 4 teams (2 RL, 2 NL) to 3 will help with the loss of players to Fox SA, as most RL teams are as non-competitive as the ECNL teams 09 and younger.

As a parent of a CISC daughter, I look at the GA league vs ECNL and it looks like with GA being a smaller league, the switch would basically mean a lower level but more traveling. Looking at the schedule for a local GA team and it looks like they are traveling all the way to Alabama for a regular league game.

What exactly makes it a lower level?

The conferences are going to re-align, and the NC teams will not go to Alabama anymore.

1. There is a pending realignment.

2. Charlotte independence Will not be a champions cup club any time soon.

Holy crap these are terrible adds.

I think the word you're looking for is "watered down".

Isn't that what all the ECNL people used to say?

Sorry to be the one to relay but leagues make $$$ from the number of clubs they can get under their umbrella. Exclusively and success create interest but they don't pay the bills unless leagues capitalize by letting more clubs join.

Call it what you want to, but every move ECNL has been a desperation move.

You never know ECNL might be able to pull a rabbit out of it hat. But I agree the moves (so far) this year seem desperate especially when compared to previous years.

The MLSN hook with GA as a by product is very appealing to clubs. Ironic because ECNL used to do the same thing with girls ECNL forcing clubs to do boys ECNL.

If ECNL was smart, they would pull Tophat and STA while they can.

This might be their last chance to do so.

The rest of the top programs in GA are MLSN

My prediction is that when the champions cup is over, STA will announce ECNL. Should be Wednesday or Thursday. Then GA will announce 2 new NJ GA teams

Only good STA team is 2008s. Will be mediocre in ECNL

they are in the Champion cup finals, but it looks like the club is 10-7 overall at the cup. Not bad since it is better teams that are there

STA announcing ecnl after the cup?

You might want to check your assumptions. GA will have more teams in the DC DMV area than ECNL, resulting in less travel. As for quality, I'd reserve judgement on that as well until we see how rosters shake out over the spring and summer. Several strong GA teams in the area are forming and my observations after witnessing several ID sessions of ECNL and GA is that the good GA teams will be on-level and in some cases better than their local ECNL counterparts.
