I am curious what zones here are saying that.

I am RP2 myself. I can walk with my kids everyday for 20 minutes to drop him, then 20 minutes back and then head to office.

But most parents can't spend 40 minutes walking with their kids in RP2. That's why it will be better if they get bus to go to either RP or RM#5.

I think many have no experience what it means to be a FARM parent. It's not that they are lazy and don't want to spend 40 minutes of walk. They don't have luxury to spend that much time in walking.

But you aren't FARMS.

How do you head to the office?

Why can't your child bike to school with friends?

Why can't they walk in a group or rotate parents walking group of kids once a week.

Why does your walkable area get to get a bus and all other walkable 1 mile elementary schools do not? Many of them have low income.

If you get busses, then so should T1, B1, and C1. They all have low income kids in their walkable area. How do their parents do it?

You bring up a good point.

BOE can avoid all this hard question and still help RP2 kids by keeping them in RP. That way no need to justify anything and still help the poorest section.

Let's stop pretending that proximity to school is the most important factor in education. RPES is part of the RMHS cluster and needs to do its part in helping the FARMS student achieve a good education. RP2 is already at RPES and they are not going to be affected in any way if they stay at RPES.

RPES can keep either Fallsgrove or RP2/6. Is this a surprise to anyone who they would want to keep?

Proximity is ONE out of 4 factors, but many parents want to make this as ONLY factor to get to 7% FARMs in RP.

Everything else is noise here. BOE is not stupid. They even have the copy of RP PTA circulation.

Or, many people only want option E so for FARMS equity and screw those areas that have a longer commute or make them an island. I can turn it around and make it look like people only care about FARMs over everything else. But you are right, there are FOUR factors. I've not heard where FARMs equity is the #1 priority.

Option E is not even a option which puts FARMs diversity as the only factor.

Option C puts FARMs diversity as the only factor. If BOE wants to put FARMs diversity as the only factor the option C is the way to go. If BOE want to balanced factors then option D is the way to go. E puts the least emphasis on FARMs diversity because it only keep all FARMS students in their current boundary. Doesn't go far by trying to balance by reshuffling them.

I personally support option D. Most balanced and no one is happy. Everyone will be a bit unhappy, but that means it's the best option.

From a capacity perspective - B vs E - B seems to have a tiny edge over E.

Why don't we let RP2 advocate for themselves and only themselves. Not another cluster, not another school, not another section, not even another neighbor right next door to them. They have sent plenty of emails to let the BOE know what they want, just like every other section going in a possible move.

I really think this thread has spiraled into 1-3 troll posters fighting back and forth and some are just making it a game acting like extremely mean people. Pointing people out from the BOE meeting, that had enough conviction/courage to take the time to do it, and make fun of them, is shameful - while you sit on a keyboard or phone anonymously. It is really pathetic. Attacks on everyone. WG, FG, RP2 lady, HCA people, etc...

Everyone just wants to stay close to home or at their home school. Is anyone surprised by that? We live in a cluster with almost 30% FARMS in middle and high school and it seems like everyone likes it. Every elementary school is very diverse in race, culture, and religion. And besides CG, everyone has had a school they are happy with that has had AT LEAST 20% FARMS. Can we just stop the attacks?

+1 Well stated. And I also hope that it's only a couple of people who are trying to stir the pot. I have also stated before to let rp2 decide what they want to do and reminded people on here several times that there are FOUR factors that the BOE needs to look at, and from what I have seen, not one factor seems to be more important than another.

Tell that to the rest of the cluster who overwhelmingly chose proximity as the #1 criteria.

Proximity is only one of the four criteria that BOE has to take into account when they make the decision. This is not a popularity contest.

I agree. I was addressing the first PP's assertion about how people are "pretending" it's about proximity.

Only options C and D achieve equitable FARMS distribution. A and B are focused on proximity. E is a compromise.

I tend to agree, but E also leaves B8 as an island. I feel badly for B8, too, in this option.

Add B8 in CG to remove island. BOE can do slight change.

They really should split B8 and B5 north and south. But that may affect capacity numbers. At any rate, I highly doubt BOE will be adding or modifying the existing options now. It's too late. We have to work with what we have. It's like the election - pick the lesser of all evils.

It is actually a thing to be mean, cynical and profane on these boards. The same people could be the nicest neighbors moms and dads in person. But when it is anonymous people let themselves go and turn nasty.

No reason to take it personally , just read to get ideas and alternative views and filter out the bad stuff.

BOE stated that they can make slight modifications without going through public comments. They can't make big modifications. Putting B8 in CG is not a big modification. I checked the numbers and it's possible to do it without creating an utilization problem in CG. It solves island issue. I am not sure why it was kept that way. May be bus lines are more easier one way or another. I don't have clue.
