White House officially tells Congress it considers Iran war 'terminated' despite presence of US armed forces in region.

So...I guess he is just walking away and letting Iran control the Strait of Hormuz with no check or balance on their nuclear program.

Troops are in Germany and South Korea too. Plus there have always been troops in the middle East.

the troops in German and SK are being hosted by those governments - not an act of war. Are you seriously trying to equate them?

What about the middle East?

The experts have been saying this for a while. The US will be forced to leave the region. Iran is the new power in the region. Good luck UAE!

The missile threat is too great to maintain these bases. The US has 27 bases in the ME all for the defense of Israel. Before the war operating these bases was about 1/3 of our total defense spending. We spent less on NATO vs the cost of these bases for Israel.

A blockade is an act of war. So as long as the blockade is going we are at war.

How does that make it not an act of war?

The blockade was the result of the war. Iran did not blockade out of the blue

They also aren’t blockading anyone. Ships can pass.. so long as they pay.

Trump gave Iran the chance to prove their military might and dominance over the sea. I’m sure he knew the US submarines are a joke now compared to what the Chinese are producing. Where exactly is all this defense money going it’s certainly not going To defense? You don’t need a trillion dollars to build one submarine or plane. If Trump was really about draining the swamp, he should start with the defense racket in this country and secondly big pharma

Interesting how every poll tied to Trump is always in the 30–49% range, basically reflecting his constant approval percentage. If this starts to drop to under 30%, I guess we'll know that it's pretty much over for him.

Poll finds 61 percent of Americans believe attacking Iran was a mistake
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/1/poll-finds-61-percent-of-americans-believe-attacking-iran-was-a-mistake

A new poll has found that a large majority of people in the United States believe that the decision to take military action against Iran was a mistake, as the war roils the global economy and fuels cost-of-living concerns in the US.

A Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos poll released on Friday shows that 61 percent of respondents believe the use of military force against Iran was a mistake, with just 36 percent saying it was the right decision.

The poll is the latest to find low levels of support for the war launched against Iran by the US and Israel in late February, which has killed thousands of people across the Middle East and sent global energy prices surging.

Asked if they had changed their behaviour due to higher gas prices, 44 percent of respondents said they had cut back on driving, and 42 percent said they had done the same for household expenses. Those figures increased to 56 percent and 59 percent for respondents making less than $50,000 per year.

Those concerns come at a time when President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have dropped to new lows, with voters expressing frustration over economic issues and the cost of living.

The war has also been depicted as a contrast with Trump’s promise to keep the country out of unnecessary foreign wars, and 46 percent of respondents said the decision to attack Iran was inconsistent with the position Trump took during his presidential campaign.

Using George H.W. Bush's description, Trump is in deep doo-doo.

Let's assume Maga to be a cult, which it basically is given Trump is basically a cult leader. All the major cults in America have been shrinking in the recent past. This includes zionism, Mormonism, Scientology, and Moonies. However, what's disconcerting is that, even as their membership is decreasing, the wealth of these money laundering organizations is increasing.

As long as he's polling well with Israelis and their supporters (which he was doing exceptionally well in the last poll), that's all that matters

We live in a very selfish and apathetic country. Trumps failure won’t become real to people unless the economy crashes. That’s what really screwed bush not the war in Iraq. There were still plenty of war supporters in 2007/2008. McCain was expected to win prior to the economic crash
