iran shouldnt be allowed to block any ships on the ocean period thats should be the rule and if they can't contrl themselves they need to be removed by the world, eevntually it will happen if trump doesn't finish the job

They're only blocking the Strait because we attacked them.

We cannot stop them from doing that without tens of thousands of ground troops and years of occupation.

DP. So Iran should have no say over what ships travel through their territorial waters? That is crazy.

The straits are international waters, not Iran's.

Iran is not part of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). This means a large part of the strait is in Iranian territorial waters and Iran has direct control over who travels through the their territory.

So no it is not international waters. The strait at its narrows is 22 miles wide. There strait is divided between Iran and Oman. It is possible to use Oman’s territorial waters to navigate the transit of the strait but it is shallow, difficult and dangerous. So for 150 miles the ships stay within 12 miles of the Iranian coast.
