You haven’t been paying attention if you think this is about voter id. It’s about Republican states like GA allowing state legislators to decide who wins in a given county/district. They are allowing themselves to change the outcome if they don’t like the result! This is what’s on the R agenda that Youngkin has so wholly supported. The federal bill put forth by Democrats includes voter id. |
Again: “Despite all of the hate for Trump, I predict that Gillespie will win. Just by the number of signs I have seen in FC. And the fact that the polls are tied.” https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/679715.page |
McAuliffe says they are. He did in the WJLA interview. If it is true it is terrible and yet also at least partly his and Northam’s fault. |
Maybe this is McAuliffe’s source.

..."Business.org says teachers in Virginia earn an average of $53,000, compared to people with other occupations who earn an average of $60,160." That is not exactly a comparison of salaries from other states. Your reading comprehension skills are lacking. I agree it's terribly low and they should be paid more. Plenty of teachers live in my $500k+ community so I suspect they earn more than $50k. |
"Average" salary is always kind of tough to use. Compare living expenses in Arlington vs Bath County.... |
We don't. And what pp said is not happening. |
All the elected Republicans do. And yes it is happening. Georgia’s law allows the state legislature to replace local election boards. Arizona’s law allows the state legislature to throw out actual election outcomes. Pay attention. |
Here’s a straight comparison with no mention of salaries of other occupations and Virginia is way down near the bottom. Surely the COL is higher in VA than WV, SD, NM, MS, ID and the other states with lower teacher salaries. https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/teacher-pay-by-state |
TMac has every advantage in this race. |
So pedantic. I refuse to be held hostage to far-left ideologues based on speculation as to what might happen in a state that needs to go back to being purple again. |
Completely disingenuous argument - when you REGISTER to vote in VA you have to provide your name, SSN, DOB, address, and you affirm an oath that the information you provide is true under penalty of a felony if you lie. I support the requirement to be a taxpaying resident of the county if you want to speak at a school board meeting. |
What’s disingenuous is your failure to acknowledge that the additional requirements that the Democratic school board is now proposing are more rigorous than the affirmation you just described when registering to vote. Do you lie about everything in service to McAuliffe’s political ambitions, or just some things? Also, there is already a requirement in Fairfax to be a county (or Fairfax City) resident to speak before the school board. The additional requirements proposed by the board are largely for show, in order to create the false impression that prior speakers who disagreed with some of their decisions were not county residents. |
Right. Totally ridiculous. To vote, you can roll up with no ID and say you are Santa Claus. To speak at a school board meeting (particularly if it’s something negative about our heroes, the teachers), you need a retina scan, a background check, a casting of your molars. Please. This has gotten ridiculous. |
It is. Go read 15:16, look it up and apologize for not being aware of the fascism your party is up to. |
