How long will the shutdown last?

"I've seen a lot of Presidents take a victory lap before," tweeted one congressman. "But this is the first time I've seen a President go to the Rose Garden and take a defeat lap."

Guessing you don’t have kids.

3 children, not kids anymore and they never threw themselves on floor in tantrum.

That is all.

Why bother having one? It is not like he has something interesting to say.

Will the State of the Union now happen as originally planned?

"The State of the Union is not planned now," Speaker Pelosi says. "What I said to the president is when government is opened, we will discuss a mutually agreeable date. And I'll look forward to doing that."

Yes, queen LOL

Not at all.

Dead as a doornail. There will be no wall. Not now, not ever.

NPR Reports:
The Senate has passed a short-term spending bill by unanimous consent to end the government shutdown until February 15th.

The same one that 44 GOP senators rejected yesterday.

I don’t want a wall either.

But a week ago people on here were so exasperated and frustrated they were willing to consider a wall in exchange for reopening the government, even if they hated the idea. The government may very well be closed in a month and people will be in the same position.

Trump lives for things like the SOTU -- ALL EYES ON HIM! It's way better than a rally! It's national and even the dems have to sit there and listen to him! That is a huge bargaining chip -- Pelosi knows he wants it and she controls when she doles it out. He's fully in the service of his ego, and Pelosi is going to make him beg. It's delicious! Like holding a bone out for a dog!

A few times when my kids were misbehaving at a restaurant, I slapped cash down on the table and walked toward the door with no explanation. The kids lined up right behind me. They don't want to be left behind. Now, if they start getting loud or bicker with each other, I just ask them if I should pay and leave, and they straighten up.

Trump is older than my children, so hopefully he has learned his shutdown lesson on the first try.
