But a week ago people on here were so exasperated and frustrated they were willing to consider a wall in exchange for reopening the government, even if they hated the idea. The government may very well be closed in a month and people will be in the same position.

A few times when my kids were misbehaving at a restaurant, I slapped cash down on the table and walked toward the door with no explanation. The kids lined up right behind me. They don't want to be left behind. Now, if they start getting loud or bicker with each other, I just ask them if I should pay and leave, and they straighten up.

Trump is older than my children, so hopefully he has learned his shutdown lesson on the first try.
