Speaking of DWTS I’ve been following Maksim Chmerkovskly’s Instagram account since Thursday and IMO it’s pretty incredible. He’s stuck in central Kyiv at a hotel and I believe was supposed to fly out Thursday but then the war started. He posts regularly.

The importance of social media from him and from anyone else in Ukraine has never been seen before during a war conflict. The entire world can see, every person with a phone becomes a journalist.

I haven't seen that social media but the UK should shut down the London Laundromat for Putin cronies. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/02/26/roman-abramovich-russia-sanctions/

Lots of fine stuff and money to add to UK and USA assets. Meanwhile a brewery in the Ukraine has a special edition product for sale https://www.pravda.beer/en/pravda/ https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10224940967928849&set=a.10211702079244906

A prior regime, the USSR, ran into major difficulty after hiding Chernobyl and a hideous 10 years in Afghanistan. Putin sent his own troops into Belarus through and into the Cherobyl exclusion zone.

Meanwhile under new NYC voting laws, will the G visa types in the Russian UN goon squad get to vote in local elections?

Good question.

And their children born here are automatically US citizens.

Revoke their citizenship and their children's citizenship. Deport them all to Russia. Then see how Putin fares surrounded by angry criminals who've kept him in power until now.

Bcs the U.S. holed the power in the world, politically, economically and militarily.
But, when Russia does it, oh, no? They are bad!

Russia is a shithole of a country and a bad actor on the global stage. It’s got a monstrous inferiority complex and always resorts to stirring up diplomatic BS just to attract attention and remind the world it exists.

Ok, and the U.S. is a great nation with millions of people living in poverty and in tents? And the U.S. is not full of BS?

Russians are great at Whataboutism!

Woo Hoo!!

Ha ha. No.

Deport him to Russia and seize all his assets in Western countries.

Then see what happens.

This is what the West should be worried about. A madman with his finger on the nuclear button.

Is Putin angry enough to kill millions of people? He's a murderer. There are rumors that he's ill with Parkinsons. He's 70.

This is the big gamble. Does he love Russia enough to protect it from assured destruction if he starts a nuclear war, which will destroy much of the world?

Or is a he just a bully waving his weapons around?

He's increasingly isolated, and his own people are angry with him.

I think he's bluffing, but of course I thought he was bluffing (again) about invading Ukraine.

Unfortunately there isn’t one. Means that a whole country has no future now. I know it can’t be compared to what Ukraine is going through but I also feel sad for the kids of Russia who have been deprived of their future.

This is what I am fearing. On CNN, they just said he will not take a loss and may resort to more violent/destructive means. Things may get ugly.

And they're not ugly now?

Coming back to the discussion on US citizenship for babies born on US soil -

I have a cousin who was born in the US, just before her family moved back to Europe, and when she became an adult, she was surprised to learn that she was technically a US citizen and had to pay taxes, despite never having lived there beyond the first few months of her life! I believe she had a lot of paperwork to do to abandon her US citizenship, because it was getting too complicated tax-wise and she didn't want to deal with it, having established her career and life in her home country.

Just to illustrate that not everyone wants to be a US citizen

Russia is NOT going to nuke Ukraine!!

It's US he will nuke!!

But we have nukes too, so we'll nuke Russia, and that will be the end of the world.

Is he suicidal enough to do this and take his entire country with him?

Russia isn’t going to nuke Ukraine. If it comes to that, it will nuke the west.

There would be no point in Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. It would be self-immolation, as Ukraine shares a border with Russia.

Someone in his inner circle needs to take him out and then Russians must take to the streets.

Well, that’s alarming. Is his goal to drag the US into this conflict? The whole of NATO would come down hard on Russia. Why would he do that?

Oh my poor dear. It can get VERY ugly on the ground. The Russian army can be tasked with purposefully targeting civilians, when now they are targeting a variety of things like major cities, key bridges and oil depots, with the goal of installing a puppet government, and some civilian targets were probably mistakes (not that they're exceedingly careful or anything).

The question is, will Russian soldiers obey direct orders to massacre civilians? How far can Putin push his troops in a country that has deep ties to Russia, and where a Russian soldier was caught on radio complaining that: "We don't know who to shoot, they all look like us?". Russians have been caught taking off their insignia and asking for food and clothes from Ukrainians, to blend in and escape.

The concern right now is that Putin, who is looking more unstable every day, will exact bloody revenge in Ukraine for losing face AND threaten the West with nuclear war. I DO NOT PUT IT PAST HIM TO START A NUCLEAR WAR ON WESTERN TARGETS, STARTING WITH WESTERN EUROPE. He is losing his grip on reality and does not care who he hurts.

We are entering a very dangerous phase of the conflict.
Everyone needs to be extremely vigilant.

There are a bunch of exemptions and if you’re making less than $120K/year you just need to file an informational return.

Even if he nukes the US there would be devastating nuclear fallout reaching Russia.

It would be great if the Pope visited Ukraine with food and medical supplies for the children. Arrive by boat with multiple news crews. It stopped, he is on a humanitarian mission for the children. Then proceed to enter the country peacefully.

The Pope has a lot influence. Can bring more attention to the human sacrifice. If things don’t go well, then Putin looks bad.
If his adventure works, he can start a relief network.

We are making this new version of a world war.

If Putin launches nukes, then our world is toast. Pretty simple.
