this

Los Angeles has not closed schools. They also don’t have nearly as many kids locked out in quarantine. Yet, schools are more crowded and community vax and case rates are higher. What are they doing that we aren’t? If LA can stay open there is NO reason why MCPS has to close. Anyone suggesting schools close is uninformed. For starters, they can’t per the state which requires live instruction 180 days this year.

MCPS is/has been worst in class regarding Covid policy.

Hyperbole, much? We at least have a mask mandate!

They are not fully posting all the positives. Our school has had positives. They also aren't quarantine any kids who are vaccinated.

How would you know?

Pediatric hospital admissions would be the best way to know.

Hospitalizations is just one measure. Why do we need kids to get sick enough to be hospitalized to put better precautions in place?

This isn't LA. Since LA is doing it better, move there. Schools will not shut down. The only way they'd shut down is some rich white kids from w schools die and that might get people's attention. Otherwise, even if we have kids and teachers die people will justify it and move on.

Parents have the right to know if covid is in the school and when AND they also should quarantine vaccinated kids as kids can still get and spread covid. The vaccine is to reduce the symptoms not stop the spread. Its really irresponsible.

This! Parents should know. Schools should be transparent. It’s a 2-way street guys. Parents, dont send your sick kids to school and school admin, please communicate openly and frequently

Stop with the misinformation. Vaccines do make it less likely that a person will become infected, making quarantine for vaccinated people without symptoms unnecessary.

Real world data in almost every country other than Israel shoes that the vaccines are effective in preventing disease as well as serious illness. You just don’t want to hear that.

If it’s perfect why are we seeing so many breakthrough cases. It does what it was designed to do which is to reduce symptoms but is far from 100%.

They don’t have COVID. They are contacts of someone who had COVID and if vaccinated, can continue to come to school if no symptoms and then test 4-5 days after exposure as per CDC guidance. Daily rapid tests would be even better to rule out COVID and continue school attendance. It is very simple,

Nothing is 100 percent. That was never the expectation.

This isn’t close to 100% so while you are ok taking chances with your kids you simply don’t care that the choices you make impact others including giving them Covid. You may be ok with getting Covid but I am not.
