How did it go with the first week? DC’s school only had one case. Better than we thought.

Zero in our school (overcrowded at about 500 kids, ES).

Mcps is holding up well so far. Hope that it stays this way!! I am optimisic that everything will be fine since our county has a high vaccination rate.

Well, they've posted 17 "community notification" letters about cases so far today: https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/press/index.aspx?pagetype=browse&type=current

Must be partially making up for the weekend, although we also received a letter from our school yesterday.

Would love to know how many quarantined kids/classes that equals.

Just from those most recent ones, North Bethesda Middle seems to be the only one with multiple notifications. In general, we’re still seeing isolated cases that would suggest community transmission rather than in-school.

I did not see my DSs' ES (Wayside) listed even though we were informed yesterday by the assistant principal of a confirmed case on September 3.

Are you still as concerned as you were two weeks ago? It seems that no kids have been seriously ill because of covid infection.

How would you know?

Pediatric hospital admissions would be the best way to know.

Los Angeles has not closed schools. They also don’t have nearly as many kids locked out in quarantine. Yet, schools are more crowded and community vax and case rates are higher. What are they doing that we aren’t? If LA can stay open there is NO reason why MCPS has to close. Anyone suggesting schools close is uninformed. For starters, they can’t per the state which requires live instruction 180 days this year.

MCPS is/has been worst in class regarding Covid policy.

My kid’s elementary school in Rockville had quarantines in classes in grades 1-5 last week. It was a mess. I don’t know how many positives, however.

I'm looking at the MCPS dashboard, but I don't see any numbers for quarantined students. Weird that it wouldn't be included, am I just missing it?
