Did they ever claim they were going to?

Ooh, the Reopen MCPS people are here "We said open the schools - we didn't say do it safely!

Got any citations supporting the implicit assertion that physical distancing significantly reduces in-school transmissions?

Seriously, you now want to pretend things like social distancing don't help.

Seriously, can you point to any studies?

That only shows the last 5 notifications. There have been a dozen since Friday.

There are tons of studies and its been all over the news and CDC recommends it. Do your own research but I guess its easier to ignore and be a covid denier.

They are deliberately hiding it. But, our MS had positives that we were emailed about and it is not listed on that website. Nor are all the ones talked about here. WO only lists 10.

Like the CDC-published study showing no difference between 6 and 3 feet of distancing in schools? And they didn't compare those to no distancing.

If there really are tons of studies looking at the effect of distancing on transmission rates while masking, then you shouldn't have a hard time pointing to a study that supports your claim.

I could not find any studies since Delta has dominated. Links, please?

Not sure whose claim this study supports but it seems pretty thorough. It is pre-Delta though.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-24115-7

individuals living in communities with the greatest social distancing had a 31% lower risk of predicted COVID-19 compared with those living in communities with poor social distancing.... among individuals living in communities with poor social distancing, individuals who reported wearing face masks ‘always’ outside of the home had a 62% reduced risk of predicted COVID-19 compared to individuals who wore face masks none of the time.

You are in the intelligent group that can make that distinction.

I just enrolled my kids in the Virtual Academy, because I don't want to deal with the stress of seeing cases rise in schools and unpredictable quarantines. Two fewer students crowding the hallways and cafeteria...

Delta went from 10% in June to 99% today. No time for studies yet.

Any cases from other schools?

We won't really start seeing the new normal for at least a week or two so be patient.

Frederick County opened last week -- 40 something cases -- 600 in quarantine.

I don't think Frederick requires vaccination and/or weekly testing of staff, but I am happy to be wrong about that.
