Yes. |
That struck me, too. It's unbelievable how callous they were. |
This made me cry. As the mother of a sixteen year old black son, I can't bring myself to watch the actual video. |
The racial component is the cop knew that because the guy was black the likelihood of punishment if something went wrong is basically zero. He would not take the chance with a white person because jury nullification isn't a guarantee like with a dead black man. How do you not get this by now? |
| Awful. How did they think they would get away with this? He was handcuffed, couldn’t they have just put him in the police car? |
eh, no jury is going to say that what that man did is o.k. It's on video and I hope he's charged because he should be. This man literally was kneeling on that man's neck while appalled bystanders taped it. The bystanders couldn't step in to save that man because 1) it was a cop doing this 2) the cop was the one with the gun. If this had happened to a white suspect, instead, would you not be alarmed? Because you should be. Bad cops are not good for anyone. But, remember, good cops save lives and we need them. |
I'm pretty sure that it was some sort of statement to the crowd.. the cop was showing who was in charge. |
| Why have the murderers not been arrested? |
Do you honestly think this cop would do this to someone white and not worry about the fact that people were saying he was dying? You don't have to verbally say racist things to be racist. Ask yourself whether you think it's just as likely for four white cops to hear a white person's pleas and begging for his life and just ignore them. The cop kept his knee on this mans neck for many minutes after he was totally lifeless and none of his fellow officers valued this man's life enough to step in. He likely won't be charged with a race crime, but he definitely calculated that this man's life had no value to society so he could act with impunity. |

There is more video (starts around 2:20 in the below link) from a store surveillance camera that was captured before the phone video, that depicts Floyd was compliant with the officers. So far there is no evidence and no video of him resisting arrest. The officers statements are all lies.

You don't get it. Cops assume they will get off in any case involving a black suspect so will do things like this. What the actual jury in this case does, isn't the issue. The issue is he felt so comfortable doing this with everyone watching. And yes I would be alarmed if the murdered person was white. That outcome is much less likely though because the systemic devaluation of black lives by police doesn't extend to white suspects. if you know you can get away with almost anything, you might just take it that one step further because it becomes second nature. Three other cops stood by and let this happen. None of them valued this man's life as the people surrounding them begged them to save this man. Are those the good cops you're taking about? |
What in the world happened that made them put him on the ground and subdue him in the manner that they did? He was in cuffs. How was he a threat? They should already be arrested. What is taking so long?????? |
No real consequences. |
That made me cry too. This is worse than a regular murder because no one could intervene because they were cops. |

I don't believe he died an hour later at the hospital. By looking at the video, I think he was already dead when they put him in the ambulance. I think there was collusion between the law enforcement, ambulance, and hospital staff to help with a cover-up. I find this large scale collusion scary.
Also, below good link about positional asphyxia. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/tasneemnashrulla/minneapolis-police-crush-neck-george-floyd-death "The MPD authorizes its officers to use two types of “neck restraints” as a “non-deadly force option,” according to its policy manual. It is defined as “compressing one or both sides of a person’s neck with an arm or leg, without applying direct pressure to the trachea or airway (front of the neck).” |
