Yeah, I also get that this was more to due with the cop feeling as though his authority had been questioned. The bystanders telling the cop that the guy was in trouble only served to make that cop double down and refuse to take his knee off the man's neck.

There may have been a racial component to this, too. Not sure that's been established.

I'm saying that I can look at the video and see with my own eyes that what that cop did was indefensible. I do not know WHY he did it. I know nothing of his personal or work history. For all you know, he may have done this before. In fact, my guess is that this was not his first time. If the person he did it to before happened to be white, would you still think that this incident was due to racism or would you think that this cop has a major anger problem when suspects question his authority?

I totally believe in holding this guy accountable for what he did. But I have yet to see the evidence that this was done for racist motives. If you can point out something that he says or does that is overtly racist please feel free to do so.

There are plenty of examples of legitimately racially motivated acts. I am not saying that it does not exist. I am saying that not every instance is motivated by racism. And painting every altercation between a white cop and a black suspect as "racist" is simply not true. Sometimes angry people do crazy sh*t. Period.

White woman here. I have personally experienced some very bad behavior from cops. To the point that I once called Arlington HQ and filed a complaint. I cannot even IMAGINE dealing with cops if I were a black person. They are absolutely power trippers, racist A holes.

And, a good cop is a hero. Bad cops are the worst kind of criminal because they are not only a criminal but hiding behind a badge and betraying the public oath and their duty.

I think we are going to need only robot cops or something so that Justice can be blind and emotionless.

Me too. I could barely control myself watching the video. I can't imagine witnessing that and being helpless to stop it. This will haunt many of them for life.

The video of the actual arrest hit the web today. There were two arresting officers, the killer and - sorry to disappoint you - an AA officer. The victim vigorously resisted an arrest, was pulled out of the car was thrown on the ground and handcuffed by - sorry to disappoint you - an AA officer.

Let me put it to you this way:

A BLACK man allegedly uses a fraudulent check. He fit the description of the person who used the check and was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. There was no investigation. No charge. No conviction. He instead was arrested on the street, humiliated in front of people standing by and ultimately slowly, painfully, excruciatingly executed at broad daylight, with several witnesses, cameras rolling. He was never convicted of a crime.

The four white man that KILL this man (not allegedly, because, in this case, there are witnesses, video evidence, all the proof is right there) lose their jobs (gasp), but now an "investigation" will take place to decide their fate. They weren't handcuffed and taken to jail. They will get to take warm showers, have dinners with their families and kiss their kids good night while an investigation (by people who look like them, think like them and likely have their back) happens.
