Moco is not a sanctuary city. Moco works with ICE to remove violent criminals. |
Would the employer know, if presented with fake id as I'm assuming you can buy in Adams Morgan (at least that used to be the case) |
Not true. MoCo only works with ICE on ‘certain cases’. MoCo is not a Sanctuary City but it is a Sanctuary County. |
https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/police-fire/silver-spring-woman-arrested-for-issuing-fraudulent-documents-used-to-obtain-drivers-licenses/ No need to go all the way to Adams Morgan. You can easily get fake documents in MoCo. This lady was caught but there are plenty like her. |
If they do their due diligence and require a background check, then yes. By requiring this they will most likely deter illegals from even applying. |
These two men are being turned over to ICE. |
| If the employer is even half paying attention, they would know. Years ago, they instituted a no match system where if the social doesn’t match the name and other identifying info, Social security issues a no match letter to the employer and the emplloyer has to figure out the issue (sometimes the issue is that the employer typed the number wrong into the computer). Unless the person has the right social, name, dob, and that person is not working in a different area, then there should be a no match. It’s hard to get ID documents that have all this right. Even if someone stole all your information and then sold it to someone that was the right age (and the employer bought a Salvadoran guy showing up with ID that said your name), it should trigger a warning if you are working full time in another area under that same social security number. These employer are just not collecting I9s, are ignoring the no match letters, or are letting people cycle through with one bad ID after another. |
The county spokesperson said it was a departure from policy in this particular case. Meaning the normal policy is not to cooperate. Stop trying to spin this. Everyone knows. |
| Cue the crickets |
True, they don’t turn in witnesses or victims. Do you want them to turn in witnesses and victims? No they are not a sanctuary county.! |
No he didn’t. This is not a departure from the normal process. Btw, the county won’t hand over the suspects because they will go to jail and it will be up to the department of corrections to notify ICE of their release. |
| MoCo has blocked immigration from jails unless it's a serious crime but refuses to define or provide a list of what serious crime is. County officials cant ask about status. They are a sanctuary county. |
Link please. It’s not a departure. And if he said it was, he’s wrong. Section 8 of the EO says the county communicates with ICE as required by federal law. |
Ice can no longer enter secure portions of the jail. So apprehension takes place in public. That is a potential safety issue. There is zero need for local government to ask about immigration status. Immigration is federal law, and federal law alone. |
Yes, it's a safety issue for law enforcement to have to go get them when they get out of jail but it also allows them to pick up everyone else who is in the house/apartment/workplace who is illegal too so not too bad. I disagree there is zero need to ask about immigration status. If Maryland is issuing MD drivers licenses to foreign nationals, the least they can do is know for certain the status of the person they are giving benefits to. |
