They stay in the county jail until their local case is adjudicated. So they likely will be here at least a year.

If they are sentenced to more than 18 months, then they are transferred to the State corrections department. Bureau of prisons is federal.

Specifically, you can thank Marc Elrich. He did his executive order because there wasn’t much Council support for a Trust Act.

They are not being released from jail. They will be released from prison. So this is not a county issue it is bureau of prison's issue.

If they get <18 months (like the white male rapists)... then we really have a problem.

MoCo does NOT work with ICE unless they are held over the coals by local news reporting. If it doesn't make it into the news cycle fast enough to give MoCo a black eye, they release and do not alert ICE.
