FCV girls will go to Loudoun and other local options. Barca will probably get the Loudoun Gray team kids that are displaced down the chain.

I know many Loudoun parents that don’t want to do ECNL because of the travel involved and are heading to Barca.

not after Liverpool debacle.

+1 and there are no Messi's in Loudoun County.

The thought of FCV GDA and boys ECNL kids going to Barca to play division 4/5 EDP is laughable on it's face.

The soccer director at STJ is going to be on SiriusXM FC this hour to talk about it - maybe they will take calls from FCV parents live on air !

In all of this mess, kids/parents get screwed. Like someone said earlier, clubs will be clubs. It is business. So go to somewhere where your kid gets lots of playing time and good coaching.

Also, any idea when the morning yoga session, love to get my meditation on then grab an overpriced latte on the way out the door.....then drive 40 minutes home.

The memberships fees are likely just as "included" as Spirit Season tickets were to those players.

Make no mistake, you AND your player are there to make money for The St. James. Whether it is a club membership, a party rental or a dinner at their restaurant as a part of your three and a half hour day dedicated to a practice.

Most Loudoun based families will not home earlier than 9:30.

They have separate fitness and spa membership options.

I don't think you got the point. Spirit Season Tickets were also "separate" yet included in the price and not declinable.

Actually, I'm sure the separation agreement had some provision in it where people are still getting the Spirit Season Tickets whether they like them or not...LOL!

That would be great---we love and use the tickets!

Wait until the following years fee structure is announced. FCV could not back track on it now, likely due to timing of the deal as well as rental agreements at Evergreen that likely needed to be secured as well.

The new owner will want a return on his investment.

$400 bucks a month minimum, not including gas.

Signed, somebody going the opposite direction

It’s a cluster f@ck

While it is easy for some of you to poke fun at the situation, the main thing we have considered in selecting a club is where I can get a facial. And full-set eyelash extensions for $290. Nowhere else in the region can I wash down my pilates with $8 hand-cut french fries. My rejuvenated skin, always being inside, will only stand to benefit from a $12 Acai Bowl and $9 Rockin Beet juice, which I shall consume thrice weekly. I've long suspected my DD needed a $9 activated charcoal detox to enhance her performance, and now I finally have a facility that can meet our needs. An $18 burger is made even more glorious when I have the peace of mind it can be served on a $3 gluten-free bun. I hardly know who to thank first.

This is the absolute best post I have ever read on any DCUM thread. Kuddos.

Maybe the new uniforms will be free to soften some of the blow.

Why?

FCV was not purchased by a philanthropist. You are a revenue stream. Everything will be about getting every last dime out of you. The soccer club is an amenity to be promoted up sold. FCV was not purchased to be a loss leader. There will be no gifts. Have you ever been a member of a gym before?

FCV is now a Springfield club. Accept it and embrace it. Everything at FCV will be more expensive than any other club in the region and possibly on the east coast. Most Loudoun based families will easily spend more time in their car than they will at practice.

Cost will stay exactly the same.

Sure they will

If those are the prices STJ charges, the place will be belly up before the end of 2020...if not 2019. Even Cashburn parents aren't paying those prices.

Is that guy dc stoddert fired or the guy McLean fired? Hard to keep up with all of the “best in class” staff STJ has running their “world class” soccer program.

So--what really happened? Did anyone at FCV anticipate or hear rumors of this---or were they really completely blind-sided?

This is the DMV. Add to that it’s FCV. If someone really thought nothing was coming then they’re just oblivious.

This is the most quiet xFCV parents have ever been. What a glorious day!

You should never be allowed around children.

I think there is a good bit of schadenfreude over FCV's plight because of the attitude of some from the Club on this forum. I always wondered about parents that are so loyal and over the top for Clubs. This stuff happens all of the time in youth soccer. They obviously haven't been around the block. You only should care about your own child. Every Club in the area is capable of the same sh*t. Parents are deluded when they suck up to coaches and club officials and put down everyone else in the area...and then blindsided when things dissolve or change without warning or their kid gets screwed over. I mean SYC, LMVSC, not getting DA for older Arl boys, the list goes on and on.

This has been a particularly turbulent spring even for youth soccer. It is now the Wild, Wild West.

Agreed, this Spring has been a nightmare. The level of gossip and rumors are insane. Can't wait until tryouts are over so there is a small break and we can start the new year fresh.
