George Mason: ugliest campus ever?

Most Virginia colleges have something that could be significantly improved. JMU has an Interstate and railroad track running through it. VCU has some great older re-purposed but a lack of open space and bad newer buildings. ODU is kind of nondescript. UVA kind of loses the thread as you move away from the Lawn. VT has good and bad. Pretty much anything that was put up on Virginia campuses from 1955-1980 was architecturally questionable. Why single out GMU?

Would’ve been better just to let this thread die. But since you did...VT and UVA are gorgeous. You’re nitpicking. Mason is blah.

Grow up. Mason is lovely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lpj5ZiJox-0. And my DD's dorm rooms looked like hotel rooms complete with enormous private bath w/ tub and kitchen. There are benefits to a campus with state-of-the-art buildings. GMU has five campuses, the most beautiful is the brand new one in Songdu, Korea. https://masonkorea.gmu.edu/

Does the Fairfax campus tour allow you to see one of these newer student dorms with the updated hotel-like design? It might sway some students to GMU if they see how comfortable the living conditions are.

If you don’t like the campus you need to grow up. Got it. Sorry you got your feelings hurt. Ugly campus. Crap school. Deal with it.

Ugliest ever is ridiculous but it doesn’t register as attractive to me either. But I bet the kids who go there love it because it’s theirs.

For me Harvey Mudd is the winner, possibly because it’s adjacent to two gorgeous campuses, Scripps and Pomona.

I went to George Mason as an adult student to study a foreign language. I'd arrive early to go swimming before class. The pool was spectacular.

Lovely language. And you clearly don't know anything about Fairfax or GMU. Or you have an axe to grind. Either way, I don't care.

I can appreciate people have different tastes. But to say it's a crap school and ugly is beyond wrong and shows you're uninformed. Many of the HS kids in the area seriously considered GMU this year -these are kids who got into schools like UVA- but opted against b/c it was too close to home and they wanted to branch out. But they universally gushed over their programs and the campus.

Very cool robots delivering food at a mediocre school. It would really benefit that place if it could be called UVA-Fairfax.

And people are allowed to think it’s blah without being called childish.

Yes and if you don’t like it you must know nothing. It must be liked by everyone!

I took a summer class. The campus is gorgeous during the summer. I used the pool and gym and took in the touring companies in the Arts. No parking issues during summer.

Name one. Every SEC school I’ve been to has been beautiful.

They are talking about the campus, not the women

Tennessee, Texas A&M, most of South Carolina, aren't great from what I've seen. Ole Miss and Vandy are nice, LSU has some good characteristics. Haven't seen Kentucky, Mississippi State, or Florida in any detail.

UVA is lovely on the lawn but once you get near the dorms, blegh. Bland city.

Notre Dame (my alma mater) is also considered beautiful but not many have ever seen the mud swamps and lake-effect puddles at the end of winter. Plus, I don't know what you think about 9 straight months of gray weather, but that's pretty darn ugly too. No small amount of pretty buildings can sway you out of seasonal depression after that.

It's very run-of-the-mill. Not pretty or ugly.
