If Ghostbusters was so good, why did it lose so much money? Oh yeah, cause no one asked for it and it wasn't good The new one will do much better |
According to Gillette, men's and women's razor blades are made with the same technology - it's the size of the razor and design of the handle that might be a little different. They charge more for women's products because they can. They're virtue signalling with this ad, they're still perfectly comfortable making money reinforcing the social pressure women feel to be nearly hairless. And they've spent years reinforcing that masculinity looked and acted a certain way, some of which has definitely contributed to toxic masculinity. They could make important changes on their own. But it's ever so much easier to tell other people they should change. I agree that toxic masculinity is a problem. The patriarchy harms everyone, men and women. But I take issue with the tendency of modern society to point out what everyone ELSE should be doing differently so we never have to look at ourselves. |
I'm a woman and I use the Mach 3. I tried the Venus but didn't like it as much. I'm not offended by Gillette's razors. |
I loved the commercial and can’t figure out why anyone would hate it. It doesn’t use the words “toxic masculinity” anyway.

The commerical was fine. Very nonconfrontational. All it said was "don't be a gaping a-hole and model decent behavior for your kids."
There's just men out there who think that any criticism of their behavior is a swift knife to the balls, and let 'em scream. They'll die out soon enough anyway. |
Yeah. 'Cause my daughter totally wants to marry an ass-grabbing entitled yutz who'd let his kid beat the crap out of another kid at a backyard BBQ. Fortunately there are lots of men out there who are...unlike you. |
We're talking about men not women |
This. If you have a problem with the commercial, I have a problem with you. You should probably think about why you're so triggered by it, as well. I suspect if you take the time, you'll find out some things about yourself you don't like. |
Of course it used the term "toxic masculinity" which, for better or worse, is a politicized term. Why don't you read some of the comments and try to understand why some are offended by the ad instead of blundering forward with your ignorance. Your comment basically sums up everything that's wrong with this country....you can't figure out why others might dislike an ad but rather than trying to find out, you just bellow out your own opinion. It's a toxic combination of laziness and lack of intellectual curiosity coupled with the mistaken belief that your comment is in any way valuable and to top it off your fundamental premise is incorrect. |
Yes.. and Gillette is a company with plenty of men in its corporate leadership and boardroom (all but two of the BOD are men, and the CEO, CFO, COO are all men), that has taken it upon themselves to virtue signal and lecture the men of America on how to act. Whilst still engaging in sexist, objectifying, exploitive marketing stunts like the photo above. They spew bullish!t from both sides of their mouths. Look at that photo above for a few minutes. Look at it. Is that the company that should be telling any male how to cunduct themselves? No. |
I'm not talking about ghostbusters and neither does the article. |
I honestly can't think of any fathers who would let their sons roll around the yard punching each other, or sit there and watch someone else's kids get beat up. |
This. There are some very insecure men who think that any remote commentary on them is a jab at their personal sense of masculinity. Women have had social commentary on our femininity since the dawn of humankind, and one commercial essentially suggesting to men "hey, be kind to your fellow people" ignites your ego? Lol ok. |
Exactly. And, a line of fathers standing at the barbecue..... a tad bit sexist IMO. At our house, this mom does the barbecuing. |
Males between the age of 11-14 have their virginity stolen by older women. These female predators are not held accountable because sexual assault of boys is widely unreported. |
