Gillette ad on toxic masculinity... have you seen it?

LOL obviously some women don't understand the whole statistics thing. In a very large population like the USA "many men" can do something and still represent a tiny minority of the total population.

Math is hard, let's go shopping!

That's a brilliant idea for the next Gillette ad, aimed at getting more female customers

IIRC that’s a reference to an actual thing that a talking Barbie used to say.

This is why your daughters will never be married and you will have to pay for their IVF if you want grandchildren. On the plus side, you can help them screen sperm donors.

Well, sounds like a perfect opportunity for Gillette.

First you stereotype and insult all women with that "Math is hard, let's go shopping!" theme.

Then you kindly explain to them why math is so important.

It'd be a fabulous way to win women's hearts and some worthy publicity.

Narrator: she completely failed to understand that this was a response to another poster stereotyping and insulting men as rapists, murderers, pedophiles, and criminals, which is a fabulous way to convince men that the feminist critique of "toxic masculinity" and the Gillette ads are something they should take seriously and pay attention to!

do you shave him also? I would find it very odd if my wife bought me new personal grooming materials. Kind of like how women don't generally like men to dictate their personal hair grooming habits

my DH has used the same shave gel and razors for years. And yes, if I’m the one at the store I buy them. Just like he buys me tampons or deodorant if he’s at the store.

But he decided on the brand he uses that you pick up, right? And you chose the brand of tampons you use, right??

If they were out of what he regularly gets, I'm the one making that decision. If something else is on sale, maybe I get that instead. Since he doesn't like to go to target he doesn't get to make those choices unless he remembers to order from Amazon!

This is basic economics, women control the flow of money in most households. Especially when it comes to how it is allocated to basic household goods. I'm glad you buy your own shaving gear but once upon a time your mom probably bought it for you.

To clarify my "Well..." comment, I was using the "you" in a general sense, as what Gillette should do, not talking about YOU the individual

Now, this miscommunication offers a new angle to Gillette. After doing that ad on math toxicity, they should do one on English Language Toxicity!

And the, after you insult men and women and English-speakers...who comes next?

Women also need to do their part. That is, stop regarding jerks for their behavior.

Fascinating angle for a provocative ad campaign by a brand of tampons.

I'm so happy Red Pill bros and other incels don't get laid. Zero chance their deficient genes will spread to a new generation.

Whatever market research says about who does the shopping, I find it very hard to believe men don’t have or express preferences about shaving items, which are reasonably personal, and I suspect this is going to hurt Gillette more than it helps. Woke Capital is tiresome and is due a comeuppance. We shall see, the reaction will be interesting.

Bye, Felicia!

Different poster here, but check out the ratio of upvotes to downvotes on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koPmuEyP3a0

I am a guy who thought it was a nice short film, but also kind of insulting the more I think about it.

Are you really counting downvotes on youtube as a tell? Those type of things are masterfully manipulated by precisely the kind of guy this ad is calling out.

See this article about how men downvote female programming on IMDB. Or these about how manipulating views and likes is a business and how youtube specializes in bringing people to content that will make them hatefully furious:

https://www.techspot.com/community/topics/over-40-percent-of-activity-on-the-internet-is-fake.251141/
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/feb/02/how-youtubes-algorithm-distorts-truth

Ooops forgot the IMDB article:

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/men-are-sabotaging-the-online-reviews-of-tv-shows-aimed-at-women/

The 538 article is awesome but not really applicable here. It basically says that men feel free to crap on things that are geared towards women (but women don't really crap on things geared towards men).

I'm in the crowd that thinks P&G is just a tad hypocritical and the ad was heavy handed. I wish men would take it seriously, though, that being masculine doesn't mean behaving like a jerk.

I brought up the 538 article in response to PP claiming that how many downvotes the youtube version of the ad has corresponds to actual public perception. Just showing that the kind of guys who would most hate this ad are also adept at manipulating online impressions of media content.

Looks like some incel genes got through to you, PP. Try to buy your daughter’s sperm from someone far superior to you. This should moderate your bad seed.

Gillette? Virtue signaling? Nah. They're totally sincere.

They’re mad because deep down, they know it’s true.

Why don't you buy some Gillette razors and shave your armpits?
