I just watched Fox for a bit and this seems to be the spin they're pushing. Trump isn't a politician, he's a salesman and all he knows is how to build personal relationships. So he's just trying to suck up Putin because he'll be able to use his amazing salesmanship and personal charm to get agreements from Putin.

Of course none of this explains why he's such a dick to our allies....

My take: two leaders agreeing to disagree on some issues, but both man enough to meet on issues they agree on. If some crisis arises, it'll be far easier for Trump to pick up the phone and call Putin now that they've met.
