Liars think *everyone* lies and cheaters think *everyone* cheats. It's a crutch that protects the psyche. So people who avoid schools with any poor or minority kids think *everyone* of their class or race does it. If they acknowledged that not everyone does this, they would need to look closely at their own motivations and they might not like what they see.

It's funny, instead of responding what was actually said, you guys always do the same thing. Change what someone says and then attack them on the thing that they didn't say. They didn't say that "there are no MC/UMC folks in economically diverse schools". What was said was that "no UMC families want their kids going to lower performing schools". You are the racists who change the phrase "lower performing" to "economically diverse".

No, you are the puppet.

It's sad people are more interested in playing the race and victimhood card instead of dealing with reality.

Every day racism is the reality, especially after Trump got elected. We deal with this reality every day.

Yes there was no racism when Obama was in office. LOL

There was racism under Obama as well, but the racists were the same. Now they are roaming free and say more and more outrageous things because they are encouraged by the racist-in-chief.

Are you 10yrs old? You sound like one

We have a racist president who enables white nationalists to openly express hatred, they are even killing people, but in your world, expressing alarm over this is sounding like a ten year old.

Thank you for the link. I really like this quote (which explains some of the behavior on this forum):

In fact, racial resentment reflects a tension between the egalitarian self-image of most white Americans and that anti-black affect. The 'racist,' after all, is a figure of stigma. Few people want to be one, even as they're inclined to believe the measurable disadvantages blacks face are caused by something other than structural racism. Framing blacks as deficient and pathological rather than inferior offers a path out for those caught in that mental maze.

If I've got this right, some people support GreatSchools giving them this data because they think Asian > white > Hispanic > black and they think it's important to live near the most intelligent and highest SES people possible.

So there you go, GreatSchools. You're providing a convenient service to some seriously misanthropic assholes. I hope someone who works there sees this thread. What great advertising!

On the contrary, my bet is it is coming from someone who really want to.

Did you mean to say, "Are you saying you don't want to be near the most intelligent and highest SES people? Are you that stupid?"

Your grammar outs you as either an adolescent or an adult who did very poorly in school. Intelligent people know that many factors go into choosing a place to live, such as commute, lifestyle, budget, community, and outlook. To put it clearly to you, I could live on my income in a middle class, diverse community near lots of amenities or I could live in a gated community on a golf course 20 miles out of town. The fact that the latter may have marginally higher income is not relevant to me. But you've never bought a house or considered where to move, because you're 15.

This. In Moco, a number of the "lower" performing schools have IB and other advanced programs that attract bright students. Wheaton , a 4 or 5 in GS, has an amazing biomed program. Rockville, a 5 in GS, has IB. I can go on and on. Smart parents know not to just look at Greatschools. It amazes me when I meet people who solely rely on these ratings. It's very naive,

I have a 30 minute commute downtown for work. Does that make me smart or dumb? Racist or Jesus Re-incarnated?

It makes you selfish if you are sacrificing the quality of education for your kid for a shorter commute. Get a better job so you can either afford a better close in school district or you can afford private

No, we live in Bethesda not Wheaton or Rockville. Plus do private.

Because of course, if your child went to Wheaton that would be horrible for his education, right?

No. we work downtown and in Arlington. >30 minute commute, no thanks. Where is Wheaton even? Any things I should be sure to see there with the fam?

But you don't want to live near assholes, so what's wrong with them self-segregating?

+1.

The solution to previous PP!s problem is obvious: go find the school with most black kids, and enjoy the anti-segregation ride!

Go send your kid to a school in SE DC then and donate 50% of your taxes to illegal aliens.

Gotta love the rich whities on DCUM acting like they give a hoot and wanting a poor diverse school for their kids. Please.

The OP’s complaint was clear as day. Hispanics move in, School ratings go down and home prices drop as well. She tries to be all loving her diversity and why does it matter? Well because it does. It is not racist to prefer a school with a smaller achievement gap. Average and above average kids get ignored in wide gap schools. They are often asked to help the kids in need than do their own learning. The concepts in the class are different. If 5+ kids can’t speak English, there are no group projects. And really, their scores don’t improve. Many still drop out. We are seeing the changes that we see with poor Asian immigrants.

I can assure you no one cares the color of anyone’s kids in their schools. They want families that are active, kids that behave because they care about school, and kids that challenge their own kids. They could be purple, red, brown, yellow, or black. Not wanting poor illegal aliens that lower the school system is not racist.

If you are one of those "most intelligent and highest SES people", I am glad I am not living next to you. You are arrogant and narcissistic unlike my current neighbors. I hope your kids don't inherit your "values".

OMG, how could you miss the point? Your reading comprehension must be really low.
