Free range parenting for the 1%?

There seems to be a lot of hate mongering toward the rich, OP. You may have noticed it once or twice (!!!) on these boards.

Indeed. I deeply regret starting this thread.

This thread is so funny to me.

So many assumptions about what goes on and how a club operates.

I am willing to bet that 90% of the people on this thread have never been inside Chevy or any similar club and certainly not long enough to form an opinion on the people or what goes on.

So, so easy to hate people who have money and one more example of judging people for the way they spend their money and live their lives.

It's sad.

If you will recall, the original purpose of this thread was to --ahem -- "discuss" the letter that went out to the club membership. That letter was made public. So it's obvious there is a problem, as noted by the inner circle of the club.

It is not that big of a problem...Winter Center redone and goldfish being shoved into radiators...this has been going on for a long time...it only matters now because room redecorated! Mountain out of mole hill and slow news day at what is left of The Washington Post. The inner circle is probably 3 members of the House committee who have been alerted to increase of goldfish population in the air ducts by whomever happens to be doing the vacuuming that week... Can we please go to the corn husking etiquette forum now because I am now getting bored with this thread. Jeff can we bump that from archives?

Do Members of Congress still join country clubs? I thought they stopped doing that a long time ago because of the stigma with their constituents of them joining $80,000 a year country clubs when the average income in the U.S. is below 40k a year.

Good for the club for doing something about this. I hope they follow through and "punish" some of the families. They need a reality check.

One time when I was there 10-15 years ago I saw a valet keying a car. Random, unrelated fact.

Some of us taxpayers could use that money!

Everyone is society is judged. People judge the choices made by the poor, by the middle class, new money, old money, everyone.

If the rich don't want judgy eyes on them they shouldn't live ostentatiously. Toughen up.

[/quote Most members of Congress probably cannot afford an $80,000 initiation fee to join a country club given what they make.

I'm sure more than 10 percent of the people on DCUM have set foot inside the CCC.

There is no chance that 10 percent of people on this board have been there - no. chance.

Agreed.

DCUM has a delusional idea of itself as being way more upper crust than it actually is.

I'm not upper crust, nor do I pretend to be, but I have been in Chevy. I like many DCUMers work in "big law," which is filled with Chevy members.

Most members of congress cannot afford to join expensive clubs like ccc. Also many of their families do not live in dc or go home to their districts for the summer so it doesn't make sense to belong to a dc country club.

I belong to several membership clubs around the DC and I can assure you, the clubs have never had to send a letter such as the one referenced in this thread, ever to members.

Therefore, I'd say CC kids are worse behaved than another population of kids.

+1
The kids are just sneakier. They look angelic in their Oxfords and ties but then they turn around and say or do cruel things.
