Madlax still as strong as ever. |
Not true. He has this Vulcan mind meld on the youth in this area, but their best players leave for Blackwolf, Crabs, VLC and other programs when they hit HS. For us, it was fatique from having to pay an excessive monthly fee, having to pay his recruiting service in order for him to lobby for our kid to college coaches, etc. I think some other families leave because other clubs do a better job with college recruiting. There are a lot of choices out there now. |
My HS aged son left Madlax not because he had a bad experience, or because of the expense, but found a better experience with another club (none of which were listed above). Madlax HS program is still just as competitive as VLC and Blackwolf. Crabs are in a different league so I won't even include them in this discussion. Here are a few thoughts to noodle on: 2017 beat Blackwolf this summer and beat the DUKES team this fall. I'd say that is still a strong group of kids. 2018 is, in my opinion, the best team in the DC area. VLC and Blackwolf not even close, sorry. 2016 is not that strong, but then again neither is VLC. |
I played D1 lacrosse....and, my parents certainly never paid for any services like this. But, it was a different time.
As far as this Akshay, I wouldn't let my kids (I have two.....14 and 9) anywhere near this psychology. And, I don't tend to be incredibly opinionated....but, I think parents who read this and let their kids participate in this program (for a slight chance at a partial scholarship) need to reassess. An asshole who talks to kids like that shouldn't be around kids. |

I'm very curious about this as well. Very disappointing if parents weren't affected by this |
All the coaches assholes. Madlax have not cornered the market on that, unfortunately. |
1. Not all coaches are jerks. Many coaches are great people. 2. The owner of Madlax is in a class by himself. Who else would threaten a kid and his family just for deciding to leave for another program? |
2015: VLC and Blackwolf 2016: Blackwolf and VLC 2017: VLC 2018: Madlax 2019: Madlax |
Name a coach that is not crazy. Blackwolf had a scrimmage at camp and the teams were named "the brothers" vs " the crackers" because 1 team had black coaches and the other team had white coaches. |
2018 Hawks?? What about 2020 2021 2022 2023 teams |
Those are the best teams in the DMV. For example, Madlax 2018 is the best in this area, but they are not among the top tier teams in the country. Clubs like Crabs are a tier above them.
If you are asking what is the best 2023 team in this area, you realize you are asking about 4th graders, right? At that age (and actually for all youth teams), having fun and improving is much more important than wins and losses. |
Madlax 2018 beat the crabs and Hawks last year. The crabs are not the crabs of years ago. Many teams have caught up to them now. Crabs are now playing with holdback kids. |
I wouldn't point fingers at other clubs about holdbacks. Madlax has tons of holdbacks in their program, especially on their 2017 team. Madlax did beat Crabs in OT last spring when Crabs were missing several key players. Since that game, Crabs have beaten Madlax easily multiple times. The Madlax 2018 team is a good one, but not great. |
So far 4 d1 kids on madlax 2018 and counting. |
