For anything contemplating Madlax lacrosse

That's great and all, but how can you have your son play for this monster and look at yourself in the mirror. You are condoning his behavior with your checkbook.

Still waiting for names of coaches that are not crazy.

Is this an attempt to lessen the severity/idiocy of what the Madlax owner said and did? If so, pretty weak. How anyone can defend that fool is beyond me.

Thanks to all for the reminder that we shouldn't play lacrosse.

"Hey, come spend a lot of money so this incredibly unprofessional dude can scream at you, and by the time you're in ninth grade, you can commit to have a college pay 1/10th of your college costs!"

(OK, maybe 1/4. Men's lacrosse average roster size: 45. Scholarship limit: 12.6. But hey -- you'll get to be a big man on campus playing a sport your fellow students ignore and one that plays its national championship a month after everyone has gone for the summer.)

We support Madlax lacrosse. 2 DS 2018 and 2022 teams.

Do you feel good about giving your money to a guy who has been fired from every HS coaching job he's had, and who threatened a kid and his family merely for wanting to play for a different program?

Do you think that's a good example to set for your kid?

Who are the tops club teams in each age group?

2015: VLC and Blackwolf

2018 Hawks??

Hawks are an excellent club team out of Annapolis. They are good every year and always have college commits.
2016 Greene Turtle DC/South is the best in the country for their year. They have beaten the Crabs, Dukes, and the Long Island teams. They have no peer in the DC area.
The Crabs are always a top national team. They may vary year to year, but they are a national recognized and respected club. Everyone in the club lacrosse world know who they are. When they play at tournaments, their sidelines are loaded with college coaches. If you want your son to get tons of exposure, they are the team to be on. They are a Baltimore team and there is a try-out to get on the team. It's loaded with the best Baltimore players and some DC player willing to commute.

I had a DS who played on Madlax. Cabell requires a monthy fee as part of the "academy". WHAT?!!??! There are plenty of different travel clubs to try out for. Are other coaches nutty? Of course? Are other coaches self-centered? To an extent, yes. But this guy is in a class by himself. Cocky, arrogant, self-centered, and self-absorbed are his good qualities. His letter is well documented, but can you imagine what he says, in private, to a kid? Who cares which program is the best by grade. Madlax will be the worst experience for your kid, UNLESS A) the parents are clueless, or B) the parents simply want their kids out of the house, at any price.

I thought the history was that at sjc he kicked a player (I thought there was alcohol involved as well), mclean his players got caught with strippers on a trip, Potomac was unhappy that he was "double dipping" - parents needed to pay tuition as well as his fee for him to talk to colleges.

The Greene Turtle 2016 DC team is NOT the best in the country. They had one excellent summer after they were first formed where they beat a bunch of excellent teams and won several tournaments. Since then, they have not performed that well.

Probably not a coincidence that their decline coincided with some of them committing to colleges. Talent is strong, but they are not the best 2016 team in the country. Talent wise, Blackwolf matches up with them, and there are a number of other 2016 teams that are better.

The irony here is that everyone hems and haws over this and the indignant behavior towards their kids yet every year without fail there is a waiting list of kids who would give their right arm (and dads too) to make the team.....it is pathetic and until parents take a REAL stand, this is just wasting air.

And by that I mean the parents whose kids are the prized and sought after athletes that these teams want....

How is the 2022 madlax team?

If you are asking what is the best 2023 team in this area, you realize you are asking about 4th graders, right? At that age (and actually for all youth teams), having fun and improving is much more important than wins and losses.

Very good point - who cares who beat who? Reads like these kids have a manufactured date stamped on them.

Sorry, I disagree about Blackwolf. Yes they are a reputable team. They do have college commits. They do well at tournaments.... But, they rarely play in one of the highly respected and competitive tournaments. They are often found playing up in weak tournaments. Never hear about them beating the Crabs, Dukes or Greene Turtle DC.

Some day you'll realize wins/losses and tournament championships aren't important at the HS level. It's about getting kids in your club recruited by colleges and having them prepared for the next level.

That's the only thing that matters. And in that respect, Blackwolf and VLC are far more successful at college recruiting than Madlax despite 2-3x fewer kids in their programs.
