I don't get it. Is it hard to pack a lunch that doesn't all come in one box? This task is just not so overwhelming that I opt to give my kids the nastiest available product instead of spending 5 minutes doing it.

I was thinking the same thing. I pack my kid's lunch every day and it takes less than 5 minutes to make a sandwich, put some fresh fruit in a baggie, grab a yogurt, add a couple of cookies, fill up her water bottle and throw everything in her lunch bag. It's not that hard.

You use baggies?!

I'm not sure if the nuggets are nitrate free or whatever. They don't seem any different than the frozen ones from the big bag we make at home.

It has to last unfrozen for months. But, you really shouldn't feed your kids any of that crap. It amazes me that people don't take care of their children better and feed them this crap.

It amazes me that some people care what others feed their kids. It amazes me that I grew up eating that "crap" and everything turned out great. Good health, average weight, played multiple varsity sports in high school. Relax, it's going to be ok if your kid eats chicken nuggets.

Of course I care if innocent children are essentially being poisoned by thier ignorant parents.

DS doesn't like juice so he brings a water bottle every day and I pack him fruit in addition to the turkey lunchable (grapes, strawberries or oranges). Is this honestly so terrible?

The good news is that the damage you are doing now won't show up for decades. Your kid will be slightly more likely to develop athlosclerosis, obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, more likely to have a stroke...but on the other hand, they will probably be fine.

This. It takes me 5 minutes to prepare my daughter's lunch and I know the ingredients are healthy, low fat, low sodium. Moreover, it's half the price as compared to Lunchables and similar prepackaged lunches. Win-win.

Yes, my daughter prefers it when I pack our own crackers, cheese slices, etc. No need for Lunchables.

My kids don't like them either. They don't make a good trade at lunch.

Well that is the difference. You believe lunchables are poison and I do not. We have scores of people in our family who have lived into their 90s. I just don't believe the organic hype. I feel sorry that your kids don't get to eat any treats. However it's your family and your business.

But what were those nonagenarians eating when they were young children, when their bones were growing, when their metabolisms were being programmed? Why don't you try feeding your children the same sorts of foods that PopPop ate back in 1920?

I love that it's either organic or lunchables. Literally kids eating lunchables are like adults eating Taco Bell every day for lunch. Disgusting. Oh, and I'm not the Baggie pp. my kids' school doesn't allow baggies. They use Tupperware and cloth napkins. Yes, I am super mom.

Never.

If I wouldn't eat it myself, why would I give it to my kids? It's not even a question of healthy or not, it's just not good food.

(But yeah, all that sodium, nitrites, can't be good for you either).

Anonymous wrote:I'm not going to let you stupid PC liberal communist elites tell me what to feed my child. Lunchables will not hurt them, it's just food. I grew up on TV dinners (we are TV people too) and Kool Aid and I am just fine. If there was anything wrong with Monsanto, Roundup or GMOs, they would not be allowed in the food supply, they are just fine. I have the right to choose to feed my family whatever I want, organics are for suckers. My kids are not fat, but they refuse to eat much veggies, and I am very busy so Lunchables a few times a week is NBD.

This is the second funniest thing I have ever read.

Who the f*ck is telling you WHAT to feed your child? Do you ever have a conversation that is not reductive to an us vs them? Republicans have a hair trigger for potential "rights" violations on every damn subject.

I'm pretty sure this person was a troll and aiming to get this response.

This has to be a joke. Who actually buys that crap?

Obviously some people, as they are sold in all major grocery stores. We shop at Giant, and they have a large case devoted to them. When I attend my kid's school during lunch, so kids are eating them.
