I wonder if they will turn out to be bombs or simply suspicious. Sounds like they are having a hard time, since so many people had to leave quickly and leave bags and belongings behind. Although, when you think about it, a scene like a marathon would make it easy to drop bags here and there, and everywhere with bombs.

Sounds like Boston is handling this pretty well (ambulances were on the scene very quickly, maybe they were already there for the marathon). My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

Not the United States, but Anders Breivik, the guy who shot 69 children in Norway a few years ago, was a very far right wing terrorist.

Eric Rudolph was a religious terrorist and a right wing terrorist.

You are mixing up random nuts with large organized groups with vast networks.

A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist.

Eric Rudolph described himself as a "Catholic monarchist" and was aided by several militia groups while he was on the run.

This is horrifying. You can tell by his face that he must just be in shock. No way would he be able to stay that calm in that type of a circumstance.

Will we see Metro police with full gear on the platforms and in the train cars tomorrow morning and the rest of the week?

He lost so much blood he's green/blueish. I'm sure it's not just a mental shock, but a physiological one too.

"Undetonated explosive devices" are not just bags people left behind.

There seems to be --and I believe it is fueled in the dark corners of the internet--a kind of violent depravity that causes these monsters to try to out do each other in scale and horror. Violent acts like this have always happened but the frequency and the scale seems unprecedented. I cannot imagine the pain of these families and other victims of violent crime--my heart is truly with them tonight.

The definition of terrorism does not include "vast networks".

Terrorism is the use of violence in order to create fear as a means to pursue a political objective.
