Oh my god. NPR is now reporting dozens of injuries, including lost limbs, and that they are evacuating the area because they suspect there are other bombs nearby.

I have a sick feeling this is a domestic terrorist. It was well-reported that many of the Sandy Hook families were running the race today and I just can't help but assume that it is related. I really, really hope not.

It's Tax Day. Boston is known for the Original Tea Party. It's one hypothesis, but it's obviously too soon to know.

Huh? I'm from Boston and watching the news now. Only thing that has been CONFIRMED is that 2 bombs went off. Green line was shut down between Park Street (Downtown) and Kenmore (where Fenway Park is). Some colleges are shutting down and telling students to stay on campus. Police are going to be doing a sweep of trashcans and the area to see if there are any more bombs or any clues.

I think anything other than that is just rumors. Please be respectful on this thread. Obviously cell towers are being over run right now and myself and several of my friends are waiting to hear from friends and loved ones who were at the marathon today.

Marathon Monday is also known as "Patriot's Day" in Boston. It's actually a holiday there.

I'm only reporting what I'm hearing on NPR. Thanks for the info. I have a couple of friends there that I can't reach. Don't think they were at the race, but it makes you nervous.

One silver lining - if such a blast had to occur, Boston is probably a very good place - so many hospitals and medical specialties to deal with all kinds of situations. There is no shortage of doctors and medical staff.

What if you are wrong and it not rumors. There are reports of secondary devices and the police telling everyone to clear the area.
