College and University Discussion
| Anyone who takes a US News ranking as important is a twit. They mean absolutely nothing. You are better off looking through the distribution of a federal research institution’s dollars from NIH, NSF, to a university and a particular major DC cares about. PhD program outputs and placements mean much more than how an undergrad university is ranked by an irrelevant news organization. Many classes, even at the coveted Top 20 schools that are private, are touched by TAs in some manner. |

It’s really puzzling.
I live in the South and kids from our best local private school with wealthiest parents (doctors, lawyers, business management) are not doing this race to top colleges. I’m looking at 2026 decisions. Most kids go to local big state schools. Some go to small privates with high acceptance rates. Only 2 kids got into top 10 and these are Asian kids. |
| Everyone is obsessed with T-20. You need to be in a top program the school is known for. In other words, you need to be in a feeder/target or semi target at least. Being in a T-20 doing some crappy major won’t land you that six figures salary. |
You’re assuming the riches can get in whatever colleges they want to go. It’s a wrong assumption unless you donate $100million. |
Telling the truth is not racism. Providing counter argument to the white supremacy claims by DCUM is not racism. What actually is racism is white people viciously stereotyping Asian kids as grinders regardless their superior talent. |
Where? Go look at Atlanta private school matriculations. Tons of kids going to NE Ivy and other selective schools, as well Duke and Vanderbilt et al. Same experience with a wealthy client in Birmingham, AL. Kids attend private school and many go OOS to selective private schools, including his own who are at Princeton and Vanderbilt. |

Perhaps rankings should have a disclaimer as to who they are perhaps most meaningful, but your criteria (which would of course produce a ranking) seem also geared to a specific audience. Of course, even by your criteria, I bet if you produced a Top 20 it would look very much like the USNews Top 20. Maybe the only differences are that like a University of Washington would move up in the rankings as they often place highly in World Rankings that are much more based on the criteria you list. |
Can you give me the name of the school? Or their IG decision link? I’m in AL too, but another town, but like I said, my experience is different. |
You just did it again…..disgusting racist. |
Ok. I see your point. Only advocating for white supremacy isn’t racism. |
