What about this Friday?

What will make Tuesday different from Monday?

Childcare providers should be allowed to open tomorrow, if they can. Next week, maybe pivot to virtual school. This isn't looking good around here. And normally I think the decisions are ridiculous to close but no way a bus could come in my neighborhood. My car barely gets in/out. I don't see that changing any time soon. This ice is really unusual.

I live in Silver spring, half a block from an ES. The streets are plowed (a front wheeler came through and did it) but they are single lane only, parked cars are stuck in ice barriers and the spots where you normally pull into let another car through are unusable. We don't have sidewalks so you have to walk in the street. We just took an uber to drop off the kid at a friend's (our car is stuck in the driveway because we aren't physically able to shovel it out, although someone is coming to dig us out later) and the sidewalks are all a mess. I don't see how we can safely get to school tomorrow, how busses can move around safely etc...

If some schools are still not plowed, how is it equitable to have childcare open for some schools?

Tuesday is the first day it’s above freezing.

Sounds like we should give Friday through Tuesday to finish clearing.

Why Tuesday? Why not wait until we can see grass again? You people are ridiculous. If schools aren't open Monday, it's a colossal failure.

I’d rather MCPS be a colossal failure in the eyes of some random internet poster than unnecessarily risk the safety of children by asking them to climb 3 foot ice barriers to cross streets.

Governments are supposed to help keep us safe. Not just provide free child care at all cost.

I will bet you there are liability issues with this.

They should keep us safe by clearing away the snow and ice in a timely manner. Giving them through Tuesday is 9 full days of clearing. That's absurd and an immense failure. We should demand more from the government we pay taxes to.

They had better let child care operators in where it is safe. Our school is fully plowed with safe sidewalks. They should allow individual child care operators determine if it is safe to open.

You gotta give Taylor time to produce his next single.

Funny not funny because I think you are right.
