Hegseth's Grand Summoning

I know someone who is going. His plan is to resign/retire in the face of any unconstitutional or unlawful order. Wouldn't it be better for the good people, who are loyal to the constitution, to say sure, sure I'm loyal and then muck up the gears from within?

Tough position to be in. Glad we retired. Regret all the wasted years serving for it to come to this.

Maybe, but it’s at the risk of their own freedom. If they get caught in the act, screwed. If they wait until there is a new boss and that boss wants to prosecute the current collaborators? Screwed.

Whether an individual service member is able to resign or retire is entirely at the discretion of the government.

“Mucking up the gears from within” is sabotage and possibly treason, and not something one wants to be involved in while subject to the military justice system.

My son is an army officer - ROTC and now doing his obligation. He shared what the enlisted think about Hegseth and this ridiculous cheerleading summit.

Suffice it to say, there is zero respect. But it is very funny. Gallows humour.

Meanwhile, the Russians and Ukrainians are making enormous advances in drone warfare every month. The battlefield has changed forever. This is an incredibly important time for militaries everywhere. The speed of change is phenomenal.

And the US has decided to confront these threats…. by bringing every general in the world to Virginia for a lecture about grooming.

That’s the priority of a Fox News host as SecDef.

Hate this.

America has made huge advances in drone technology too. We will have a leaner and older force.

The good ones are absolutely seething. The US military is the most powerful force in the world because it is professional and non-partisan. They swear an oath to the Constitution, not to the political hacks of the day.

But Trump and Hegseth are really moving hard to turn the military into a banana republic force that is nothing more than the lethal arm of the Republican Party, which is a cult of personality today. The party of Reagan, both Bushes, Romney, and McCain is dead.

It’s a dangerous time. It’s probably not a coincidence that Trump and Hegseth are meeting with Erdogan today. Lots of lessons to be learned from how Turkey has used the military to subvert democracy and embrace the cult of personality.

Republicans are a real threat to national security today.

You sound like a commonist!

I hope this is sarcasm. If not, please consult a dictionary.

This seems like something awful is imminent. Theories? Facts?

Trump is attending. He wants all senior officers to swear allegiance to him and It's not joking.

I think everyone should be paying WAY more attention to what is happening here than they are. Here's an update on some of the internal conflicts over Trump's/Hegseth's plan for the military:

I'm kind of shocked that this isn't attracting the same level of attention as the Kimmel/FCC thing (which I think was and is a big deal). This is extremely concerning, and no one knows that better than military and natsec officials and experts in this area. I can't figure out if the general cynicism of people who work in this area is part of the problem or if everyone else is panicking just like me but just doing so silently.

The UCMJ says that not only can you refuse to follow an unlawful order, it is in fact your duty to not follow an unlawful order.

And by telling the whole entire world that our US military leadership will all be huddled up together in one place at the same time. I don’t have a military background myself, but, unless they’re deliberately releasing incorrect information, that doesn’t seem very prudent.

Yes, it would be. Throw sands in the gears.

Sabotaging computer systems, everyone needs to get creative. This is a hostile takeover of OUR government. MAGA is not THE government. They are temporarily in charge.

I appreciate you passing this on. I’m disappointed with the national guardmen that I’ve spoken with who seemed to be all in for Maga. Glad to hear not everyone in the military likes what is going on.
