GA1 vs ECNL RL

My daughter is in high school and playing ECNL. For me, it looks like this is the league for her to finish out high school. Will be interesting to see if a league shift occurs for girls currently in elementary school.

Same as 2012. RL is getting more and more diluted as teams move to GA. Unless you have a solid shot at ECNL NL. For 2011s, you need to consider the change from BY to SY and who is coming down from 2010s. 2026 is going to bring a lot of change.

I’d even say the same for 2010s. You are headed into your sophomore year and going to showcases is a big thing to consider.

You mean GA is getting diluted with all these additions. ECNL RL should look better next season

Just be cautious of teams new to a league, that is always a gamble. It might work out, might not. I’ve seen this happen in youth soccer over the years, things change constantly, another shift in landscape will occur in the next year or two. Go with the team/coach, some will be better in some leagues and some in others. There is no response to the original question that covers all scenarios.

We were with GA, but left. The club we were with was full of father coaches, and we practiced 2-3 times a week. The GA does not follow what they preach. Our daughter was having a tough time because of a parent coaches who treated her and others bad. One girl left with mental health problems. We wrote to GA about what was going on. GA never replied. We wrote three more times, they still never replied. It’s only a money machine for them. These clubs have to perform or they lose their GA license. They don’t develop they just want kids that can score. The league is not consistent, there are teams beating other teams 12-0. Find a better organization to work with.

Which club?

My kid plays in GA and I dont know of any clubs that have dad coaches other than Ukies and they switched to ECNL.

Find me an age group where RL will be stronger than GA. Not saying that some RL teams won’t be better than a GA but the GA league as a whole will be stronger.

Agreed. SYC had a strong showing but TSJ did not. McLean and Alexandria will be in the spotlight this year.

McLean will be fine, as they have enough decent players on their second and third teams to create a solid core and the club’s reputation will enable them to pick up a few more. We were at every MYS GA tryout and, while the overall quality was atrocious, the turnout was very strong and there were enough decent players there to make a mid-table GA team. Alexandria is a completely different story. Their top teams are not very good so they don’t have players ready to make a solid core, the club’s reputation will not attract other solid players, and all the other GA teams filled their rosters months ago, so the only players left are ones who didn’t get picked up by the other GA teams. TSJ and Alex will be battling next season for bottom of the GA table.

Sorry your daughter had a bad experience. I know MLSNext has complain mechanism and the same apply to GA. Are you sure you used the formal channels?

Mclean has better teams. Alexandria has the 2012 only and maybe the 2011. The rest will struggle.
