Are people canceling summer vacations or not really that concerned yet?

Mass layoffs at contractors today. 90% of companies being wiped out. That’s a lot of unemployment and fast, not even including that 1/4 of our GDP is the Federal Government. Unless you’re so independently wealthy that your home value crashing and your stock portfolio evaporating are not a concern, you should probably hoard cash. No vacations, nothing. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but all worst case scenario is happening and quickly. Be prepared

I just cancelled our summer trip. It was a bucket list trip. I’m sooo sad.

Just canceled Disney.

On the bright side, the DMV is within driving distance to many wonderful destinations that won't break the bank. Besides, with all of these plane crashes, who wants to fly anyways these days.

Just canceled a trip to Europe. Fortunately bought refundable tickets. It’s actually a relief not to be thinking about it anymore.

No trip other than to visit my ailing mother. We just won’t have the income after all this stupid unnecessary fallout from the new administration. This is reckless, cruel, and totally sinking the economy. I’m not in the mood to buy anything, nor can I anymore, and I certainly don’t want to travel anywhere, nor can I either.

You are creating a self fulfilling prophecy.

So it’s OK for you to change plans and try to live within your budget, but when our country realizes that it can’t continue borrowing a third of its expenditures every year, it’s “reckless and cruel” to cut spending.

It's likely that only one of us will be employed this summer. We haven't officially canceled the big August trip we normally do but are almost certainly going to.

Do you realize that the House budget massively increases the deficit? It will increase borrowing. Wake up. The expenditure cuts are to screw ordinary folks while the billionaires get tax cuts.

The national parks are not going to be functioning this summer.

I mean I get it. It’s going to chaos this summer but it will probably only get worse economy-wise and everyone hating the US-wise. So it’s now or possibly never?

I'm almost certain I'm losing my job so we are spending on nothing that is not necessary. Single parent

We’re not booking summer camps or vacations. Already one fed parent laid off and while the other seems ok, we are saving for what seems like will be a number of scary years ahead.
