Are people canceling summer vacations or not really that concerned yet?

Can you explain your thought process? Are you worried your citizenship will be taken away upon arrival back to the US? Have you heard about such cases from credible sources?

While I am a citizen and have never broken the law, are you not aware that people are being picked up, detained and deported without due process? I don't trust this administration to follow the law even when it comes to naturalized citizens.

I think the issue is really the other direction, right?

Well yes I meant the climate in the US.

Yeah, nothing is on sale or less crowded. If anyone has cancelled or postponed, the vacation providers haven’t noticed yet.

How can you not know that this is happening? The headlines are full of the stories about the man who was accidentally picked up, deported, imprisoned and apparently we can’t get him back. Get your head out of the sand and observe the world around you

I’m the PP who originally asked the naturalized citizen to explain their point of view. I haven’t hear do a single story where a naturalized citizen was detained/disappeared/lost citizenship at the border. I’m a 100% liberal, but I don’t like fear-mongering.

You are free to travel wherever you want. I’m choosing to not take that chance for now. I find my fears reasonable.

This is a father from Maryland, btw. It’s a horrific story. Trump admin admits it was an error but says they don’t have the authority to get him back from El Salvador, so oh well!

Normally I would 100% agree with you and I also don’t do fear mongering. But my workplace is advising people who do research in certain areas and are also from certain countries to hold tight in the US for right now. It’s situational.

I think travel is down from other countries but not within the US.

+1

I can't believe some is even asking why a person would be worried. I was born here and am concerned.

In my limited experience, the French turned their noses up at Americans. Then Chinese tourists entered the picture and now we're not so bad

If that other PP wants to risk it, go for it. I won't be doing that.

French people were always nice to me. They even helped me with the pronunciation of certain words. I always attempted to speak French, and I think they appreciated that I made an effort.

The only bad person was a taxi driver who drove us the wrong way to make more money off of us. Just because I'm not French doesn't mean I don't know the layout of the city. He pretended not to understand English but, by his expression, he sure seemed to understand what I told him after that...Eff the taxi drivers.

Planning travel to South America. Both partner and I are fed-adjacent so who knows what will happen before our trip, but it is already scheduled and paid, so we'll either be enjoying a fun vacation or a last hurrah. Ugh.
