her weird baby voice is unnerving

When she said she's in the process of recording her audiobook, I almost spit out my drink.

How you say onion? I guess he didn't learn from that fake cucumber incident. Pathetic.

Her family has chosen to stay very silent and to distance themselves publicly from her. How close they are in person, who knows.

Wise choice on their part. Usually no good comes from speaking out publicly. Privately, they are probably saying WTF??

She's so obnoxious and rude. She's going to have Alec in a home within 10 years, mark my words.

I couldn't get past the first two minutes. how TF is that seven minutes long? torture! and so awkward. everything about the two of them together seems so unnatural.

That video is bonkers in part because they are supposed to be promoting planet Hollywood and Alec goes on forever about how cool planet Hollywood was in the 80s when it first opened (which is true) and the obvious implication is that he has to explain that because now it’s just a dumb Times Square chain restaurant for tourists that no celebrity would ever voluntarily patronize. It’s like when a grandpa is prattling on with some story that’s just totally offensive to the guests or hosts and you’re trying to figure out where it’s going and if you need to spill something to interrupt him.

From the Hilaria Reddit, it was reported that a family friend posted this on social media after the wedding:

"Both her parents were unaware of her lies until the rehearsal dinner. When they heard the vows would be in Spanish they flipped. She knew they would. She had the programs printed with her brother giving her away. It broke her parents hearts. She’s a manipulative con artist. No sympathy for her ever"

"Her father found out she was pretending to be Spanish and tried to get her for a psych assessment. She threw a fit and wanted her brother to walk her down the aisle because she didn’t want her parents names published. People was covering the wedding. Her folks are easy to search and everyone would see she wasn’t from Spain. Hilary is a tough and manipulative con woman. This was calculated."

ETA (same family friend): "She (= Hillary's mother) never said anything about being embarrassed by Hilary but the way she deflected talking about her spoke volumes. When details of Hilary’s wedding came out and her coworkers (she stayed on part time even after the official retirement) asked about all the Spanish details she was red faced and simply replied “there are no words”. She did confide in my aunt that her husband was heartbroken to not walk her down the aisle, when pressed for a reason she simply stated that you “wouldn’t believe it”.

Hilary seems to thrive on chaos.

Definitely. She creates it and it must give her a feeling of control. During one conversation you could see him just give in and he looked like he was going to cry. She does the gish gallop where you can't quite follow what she's saying and she goes on and on. He probably gets exhausted and gives up which is what she wants. I think her kids will probably see this more plainly than he does.

I watched the first episode thinking it would be fun and entertaining but it was really hard to watch. It feels like no one engages with the kids, ever. Like, I just wanted someone to read to one of them or play a board game or ... something. Anything.

I realize that someone is reading this and thinking that clearly those moments happen and the show didn't choose to air those clips but I'm pretty convinced it doesn't happen.

And the absolutely messy and painful loading of the cars for the Hamptons when there were FOUR available adults to solve the problem is truly beyond me. Also: very clear that she punished Alec with the cats in his car. I loved that the producer asked "did you know that Alec's one request was not to ride with the cats?" I mean, she definitely knew.

I feel bad for him. He has his faults, but there is something so smart and charming and charismatic about him. She seems extremely manipulative and ott. I realize it takes two to have kids, but having this many kids with an old man who then has to keep hustling to keep up financially is just gross and unkind.

It was clear during the therapy session that she did not want him to stop working. She does not want to have less money and it's via his connections that got her and her daughter new book deals and this show. He says he wants to retreat from public life; she does not.

Hilaria and Alec just had a tense moment on the carpet

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pywpUGy0lH4

After she insults him, she makes a comment saying something is essential and he says " how do you say that in Spanish"

They basically hate each other!

^That clip is uncomfortable to watch. She thinks very highly of herself, as she rolls her eyes at him expecting the reporter to agree with her.

I watched the show, it’s clear the Spanish lie is a lie. But….i don’t find either as unlikeable as I should? The kids seem to love them, they don’t seem to be fronting a glamorous life, I do think Baldwin has some messed up methods of dealing with his insecurities. It’s weird but I did like him; I loved 30 Rock, he is - to me - rare talent. He’s a mess. She’s a mess. But - they didn’t bug me the way they should!
