Hilaria was my Covid deep dive obsession. I love the photo of Carmen, when she was around 2 or 3, looking at Hilaria’s belly like she had never seen a pregnant person before.

I think Alec just got caught and is now sort of stuck. So for him it’s one part grift, one part loyalty/duty to this family he created, and one part ego refusing to let him come out and say yeah, I was totally conned.

100%. She has a personality disorder, which explains why she’s not embarrassed about being exposed as a complete fraud like any normal person would be. Alec’s ego prevents him from acknowledging that he too was deceived and trapped.

Alec was 100% conned. Even after she was exposed he continued the lie, as recently as when he was being questioned in New Mexico.

I think he still believes her.

And godmother to whom? Alec is Catholic, but it isn't clear if all of them were baptized. You'd think with her "Spanish" background it would be perfect Instagram content to have the important religious ceremonies & captured for admiration.

Yes, Hilaria believes she is a star. I’ve said this before but on an episode of Comedians in Cars with Seinfeld, Alec starts going on about how his wife is just so much better than he is and Jerry cuts him off and says- no, she’s just a person. Just like you. Or something like that. I bet Alec’s friends realize he’s in a weird relationship.
