You don’t understand what an appeal is? Hint, you don’t appeal if the court found in your favor. |

Guess which areas has most number/highest rates of purged voter? HINT - color blue. |
They are also areas with higher numbers of immigrants. |
So Youngkin was rejected/enjoined by the District Court, appealed, and the Appellate Court rejected his appeal. What happens next and in what timeframe? |
Who could have naturalized between getting a drivers license and registering to vote. So should not have been removed. DLs are valid for 8 years. Naturalization is possible from 3-5yrs after you get a green card. This was a flawed rigged system to begin with. |
Youngkin will appeal to SCOTUS. Immediately, because he has to restore voters by Wednesday. Late Monday or sometime Tuesday, depending on how fast Youngkin files, SCOTUS will deny cert, unsigned per curium. |
I hope so, but Roberts sure does love denying him some voting rights. |
Nothing to be gained by doing it here. 1300 voters in VA aren’t swinging the election. They have to save the crazy for stuff that counts. |
You mean the highest number of people who indicated they were not legal citizens on their voter registration? Oh. Quelle surprise. |
+1 |
I’m a legal citizen for over 50 years (from birth). I was at the DMV to get my license renewed because it was about to expire. At the end of the transaction I was told I needed to answer a few questions before paying and to indicate my answers on the screen. First question was something like: DMV would like to re-confirm your voter registration information and in order for the screen to go forward you had to click on the only option, there wasn’t a no. And why would you think this was some sneaky plot because you’re often asked on similar pads at other places to reconfirm your email or phone number or if you want your receipt emailed to you or to take an annoying survey. It happens everywhere and this seemed exactly the same. And then the questions for weird, like asking the same thing over and over but worded differently. I have never been a noncitizen, I have never indicated otherwise. I’ve been registered to vote since I was 18 and had a license since I was 16. For whatever crazy reason, I was flagged. This is some sort rigged nut job shenanigans. If it can happen to me it can happen to anyone. |
I made the same mistake when I registered to vote in Virginia in the 90s. They called me on the phone and asked me if I was a citizen. I told them I was, and got a voter registration card soon after. If I was still registered, would they bounce me off the rolls too? |
| If we had Voter IDs....like most all other countries...this would be a moot issue. Just saying. |

Up until this I have been pretty happy with Youngkin. Even though I support voter ID. Even though he may be right on principle, this juice was never worth the squeeze, especially since it so predictably generated backlash during a contentious election cycle. Even if every one of those ineligible voters cast ballots, it was never going to tip the scales, especially given where most of the voters are located.
Just not worth it! Watching to see how this turns out. |
The numbers are very strongly correlated with the % of non-citizens in each county. I do not necessarily think that differential frequency of voter removals by county is indicative of a "flawed rigged system" with malicious intent. However, it was very stupid for Youngkin to do this so close to election day. He should have done this around a year ago to give people ample time to reregister if they were removed erroneously. https://datausa.io/profile/geo/fairfax-county-va Non-Citizen Percentage/Cancellations Per 100k Residents Loudoun County: 9.7% / 23.5 Fairfax County: 12.1% / 25.7 Arlington County: 11.7% / 19 Prince William County: 11% / 39.2 Caroline County: 2% / 9.1 Orange County 1.9% / 5.3 |
