Gov. Youngkin issues statement after DOJ files lawsuit over noncitizen voting in Va.

Anonymous
The trope that non-citizens are voting anywhere in the US is FALSE. The right is using it as a anti-immigrant racist way to energize its base.

Youngkin, that turpid worm who was elected in VA by playing on the fears of parents during the pandemic and who like Vance is an amoral opportunist, is trying to position himself well in the Trump universe by signaling his MAGA credentials.

Thank goodness we have laws to stop him.

“The agency alleges that Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin violated the NVRA when announcing and subsequently carrying out an executive order which required the election commissioner to regularly update the state’s voter lists to remove individuals who have been "identified as noncitizens," and had not responded to a request to verify their citizenship in 14 days.”

Were you identified as a non-citizen, and did you receive a request to verify your citizenship you didn’t respond to?

Because that’s what VA is doing. They are only removing voters who have been identified as non-citizens and haven’t responded to verify their citizenship.

Is there any evidence that non-citizens are voting?

The Overton Window has move so far on this issue that we accept as normal governmental action to solve a non-existent problem. This is voter suppression, pure and simple.

LOCK. HIM. UP.

Isn’t it also illegal to vote if you’re a non-citizen?

Crimes don’t cancel each other out nitwit.

This happens a lot in MD also, but with a Democratic governor, no one cares.

Yes, but it’s been proved over and over again this isn’t happening. I recently read it was like 50 votes nationwide over years of elections.

We’ll wait for a receipt for this claim before we believe it.

Wait, so it is happening? Sounds like you need to get your stories straight.

They are

Serious question. Do you know this or are you assuming it’s true?

LOL. I should have said it’s not WIDESPREAD like the GOP would like you to believe. Because I like receipts, I’ll bring mine.

“After the 2016 election, the Brennan Center for Justice, which advocates for voting rights, surveyed local election officials in 42 jurisdictions with high immigrant populations and found just 30 cases of suspected noncitizens voting out of 23.5 million votes cast, or 0.0001%.”

But, now I suppose you want to worry about a minute fraction of voters, and you don’t know who they voted for. In the other thread, you’re arguing that young Hispanic males are voting for Trump. So, is it a problem of they are voting for your guy? It’s so typical of Trumpster to cut off their nose to spite their face by disenfranchising legal voters for a problem that doesn’t sway the needle. Trump won and lost by more than 30 votes.

Please read the entire article for your education, and you can google the study I mentioned that was over several years.

DP, but the point is that it's already against the law and is happening so infrequently that campaigns to purge the voting rolls or require ever more evidence of citizenship to vote are hugely out of proportion to the actual risk. It's a waste of government resources.

It's like testing every kid in every high school for evidence of smoking marijuana because 10 kids have been caught in 20 years.

Nobody is providing any evidence to show it is true.

Governor Youngkin’s actions were entirely lawful and correct.

In 2020, I was sent a ballot from DC after I moved out of the city and had registered to vote in another state. I sold my property in DC so the city government knew I was not a resident any longer. They mailed an unsolicited mail in ballot to my new address.

I wonder how many of those went out. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one given the chance to vote twice.

DOJ is a political disaster right now.

So is the problem here that names are being removed within 90 days of the election?
