The Teamsters membership is overwhelmingly in favor of Trump. |
The Midwestern Teamsters (Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas and Iowa) have endorsed Harris/Walz. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-midwest-teamsters-endorse-harris-walz/ |
Rs and Trump are against unions, period. https://m.usw.org/blog/2015/trumps-vegas-hotel-refuses-to-recognize-its-workers-union https://www.reuters.com/article/legal/trump-hotels-reach-deal-with-unions-ending-labor-board-cases-idUSL1N1EG12B/ |
Flooding the job market with millions of new workers doesn't seem very pro union either |
No, the point is that work policy will not change. Employers will continue to under hire staff and then overwork the existing staff. Now, the employers will not be required to pay hourly non-exempt employees overtime for the extra hours that they work. So, they'll be working the overtime, but not getting paid additional for it. And you are wrong about people not wanting to work overtime. It is still common for people whose expenses go up for some reason, to want to get overtime so that they can earn more to pay off expenses. So people who have unexpected medical costs, family issues (like an aging parent who needs help), an unexpected expensive home issue (like roof damage, electrical problem, burst pipe, car damage) or even something as mundane as needing more money for Christmas gifts for the kids, will not have the option to work overtime to pay for the extra expenses. No, the plans are bad all around for hourly workers, and I can't believe that they know what the plan has for them. First PP is right that this needs to be pointed out to them so they know what they are voting for that will affect them personally. |
Truckers Def want to work overtime. 1.5 X more pay. I think you underestimate how much overtime is the life blood of the blue collar. The US is a tragically overworked country. It would be nice if overtime wasn’t necessary. My dad worked six days a week for decades. I didn’t know life wasn’t just supposed to be about work until I moved to Europe for a year |
"pro-union" doesn't and shouldn't mean that the job market and applicant pool stays stagnant. It means that the greedy corporations should pay a fair and living wage with decent benefits, irrespective of whether the worker or their parents were born here. If you read that article, you'll note that a large % of those hotel workers in the union are immigrants. |
This is what Biden and the Democratic Party did for you: Statement: Joe Biden’s $36 billion for a union pension fund is “the largest private pension bailout in American history.” When President Joe Biden directed $36 billion to a Teamsters pension fund, he said it would prevent drastic cuts in pension benefits for 350,000 union workers and retirees. |
I don’t know if he’s MAGA, but I do know that the audience he is playing to is his membership. He must think that his message resonates with the majority of his members. He is elected by his membership and that’s who keeps him in power at the end of the day. |
If Dems have f*d them over, what have Rs done for them? |
Is the membership unaware of the $36b bailout Biden provided in the face of republican opposition? |
