Teamsters decline to endorse a candidate…

She still got Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

By Rob Wile and Megan Lebowitz
The main national body of the Teamsters union may have declined to endorse a candidate for the 2024 presidential election, but that hasn't stopped local units from doing so.

According to the Kamala Harris campaign, almost two dozen local Teamsters unions and joint councils representing approximately 1 million Teamster-affiliated workers have endorsed the vice president in recent days, including ones in the key battleground states of Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The support comes as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBOT) said this week that it was breaking with precedent by not issuing an official presidential endorsement. The teamsters have generally backed Democrats for president in recent races.

James P. Hoffa, the former general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, on Thursday night put out a blistering statement criticizing his successor, Sean O’Brien, for the union’s choice not to endorse a presidential candidate this election cycle. Hoffa, the son of the legendary labor leader Jimmy Hoffa, called the decision “a critical error” and “a failure of leadership” on O’Brien’s part. “There is only one candidate in this race that has supported working families and unions throughout their career, and that is Vice President Kamala Harris,” he said. Hoffa, whose final term ended in 2022 after a nearly 24-year run as Teamsters president, said that O’Brien had “undermined” the Harris-Walz campaign with the non-endorsement by choosing “to take a seat on the sidelines.”

Sounds like a rigged outcome to me.

But it doesn't matter. The democrats will get the union dues and the republicans will get the union members votes.

It wasn't "unanimous", WTH that means. Big rolleyes.

Maybe. If union members enjoy voting against their own interests.

You are missing the point: no one wants to work overtime. People want to work 35-40 hours week and be able to afford food, gas and house. They cannot do this now even with working 70-80 hours a week.

I don’t think you actually understand the point…

Biden would have gotten the Teamsters endorsement. And he would not have lost RFK.

So to be clear. The gop will eliminate overtime pay, but not overtime.

RFK is and was a GOP plant. There was never a "getting" RFK and frankly, it makes almost no difference.

Biden Harris will put in tens of millions of illegal immigrants to take jobs from Teamsters. Teamsters and other union leaders won't care
because they will look to collect dues from the illegals.

P.S. to the poster who’s desperately trying to discuss the Teamsters in the polling thread, here is the thread for the Teamsters discussion.
