Taibl benefited from very strong rec lacrosse programs at ALC and Fort Hunt. Those programs are a shell of what they used to be. Taibl, via assistant coach Trigiani, had a strong leg up in recruiting top Blackwolf players. Blackwolf is a shell of what it used to be. Without those prior advantages, it was a struggle for Dodds, and he did not appear to do a whole lot to find alternative solutions.

Coach Ince will do great at Saints. No miracles but he will turn it around for sure.

Have the Saints officially named Ince as their new HC or is all of this speculation from "insiders"

Anyone know whether STA has been able to convince any of the band members to play lacrosse next year?

Plan is to convert all the trombones to long poles and the flute players to attack. IAC you are on notice

Easy to say. Very hard to do. We’ll find out very quickly if he has ability to recruit. If no transfers join SSSA this summer and he has to grow from ground up then this is a multi-year effort at best. SSSA will be even more of a bottom feeder next Spring - let’s see how long the honeymoon lasts

Great relationships with kids and families. They'll be sad to see him go but wish him luck. SJC has plenty of time to figure out how to replace him before they spring.

If boosters are so upset, isnt that an easy solution? More money.

Far from upset. Speaks has always helped his assistant coaches get HC jobs. Good luck to Coach Ince.

Not sure how he will succeed since the IAC doesn’t give out athletic money. 🤣

You focus on the ground immediately in front of you. Saints had to get a new good coach and avoid the obvious pitfalls of an internal hire or someone who had little to no experience . Coach Ince did a great job for us at SJCHS and will be missed. Trust me. He will do a great job there.

Trust me. He will do great there as long as the administration changes their financial aid process, admissions admits every lacrosse applicant, and if they hire two full time assistants.

St Stephens has much larger problems than its lacrosse program.

I truly question if the school will be even be around in 10 - 15 years.

Its been under-enrolled for the past few years.

The current headmaster needs to go!

So you think the school is going to hire 2 full time assistants? You realize ince is a teacher at the school and gets a stipend to coach. He will also be expected to coach at least one other sport. This isn’t the WCAC. Also, unless an applicant is as dumb as a rock, he’s getting into sssas. Ince needs to immediately reach out to madlax, DCE, trw, NL, VLC. .. and offer free or highly discounted field space to try attract families. He should also try and poach any VA families to transfer from any long commute school they are attending.

I'm sure Ince will target VA kids from Arlington or Alexandria making the commute to SJC who might not be happy with their playing time.

SS/SA and SJC are comparable academically, SS/SA might be perceived as slightly stronger than SJC.

I wonder if swapping $20+k for a far less commute time will be worth it. It's the same decision many catholics use to decide between GP and GZ.
