I’m glad he was not fired and I hear he jointly made the decision to leave with the school given the threats he was receiving. Have some compassion, I hope the school gave him a great financial deal to end his contract early.
I think this is fair to say, except his staying at the school was absolutely not going to work. So saying the "threats" are what made him leave is a bit of a stretch. He would not have ever had the same level of respect from parents, students, and other faculty as he did before the incident. Yes he had some support, but there were many who were unhappy that were not speaking up.
And some of those speaking up against him sounded like bigots, I lost a lot of respect for other SR parents over the past month.
Oh, really? How so? I’m an SR parent and have heard nothing bigoted from any other parent, regardless of their opinion on the situation.
I’ve heard a few anti-gay comments, like this is what we should have expected from someone like him. It’s remarkable how these people could love their fun drama teacher for years and then turn on him like vipers when a heavily edited few seconds of him appeared on a right wing site.
His leaving had nothing to do with his gayness, but everything to do with loss of trust in him. Of course, everyone at school is upset because we were all betrayed by him. For Catholics, we sent our daughters to SR for the foundation of Catholic teachings. We trusted him with our children, while all along, he had secretly been trying to do whatever he could to subvert the Catholic teachings. So, no, he does not belong at a Catholic school.
