SR/Project Veritas video

Is the dean that made the comment gay himself? I just watched the video for the first time.
Anonymous
Yes, he was flaming and no one cared. But that comment is out of line if he wanted to keep teaching at a Catholic school.

Flaming? Really?

Yes - is that not PC anymore? Cannot keep up.

I’m glad he was not fired and I hear he jointly made the decision to leave with the school given the threats he was receiving. Have some compassion, I hope the school gave him a great financial deal to end his contract early.

I think this is fair to say, except his staying at the school was absolutely not going to work. So saying the "threats" are what made him leave is a bit of a stretch. He would not have ever had the same level of respect from parents, students, and other faculty as he did before the incident. Yes he had some support, but there were many who were unhappy that were not speaking up.

+1, agreed. He was well-liked by the administration and the students. As a parent, I liked him also. I was very surprised by that video of him. Everyone (including the kids) knew he was gay, but no one cared as long as he was a good teacher. I read reminder emails he sent weekly to the students, and they all were professional and even stern in regards to keeping with the dress code and skirt length. So his statement was unexpected and disappointing. As much as I liked him as a teacher, stating that you're subverting Catholic teachings (and feeling great about it) at a Catholic school is the absolute worse thing to say. I also lost respect and trust for him. I'm glad he's gone. He and the school made the right decision to part ways.

Also want to add, besides being the dean, he taught Drama. So he wasn't teaching a critical subject where his loss meant a great deal. But he had a fun and outrageous personality that made him likeable.

And some of those speaking up against him sounded like bigots, I lost a lot of respect for other SR parents over the past month.

Oh, really? How so? I’m an SR parent and have heard nothing bigoted from any other parent, regardless of their opinion on the situation.

I’ve heard a few anti-gay comments, like this is what we should have expected from someone like him. It’s remarkable how these people could love their fun drama teacher for years and then turn on him like vipers when a heavily edited few seconds of him appeared on a right wing site.

His leaving had nothing to do with his gayness, but everything to do with loss of trust in him. Of course, everyone at school is upset because we were all betrayed by him. For Catholics, we sent our daughters to SR for the foundation of Catholic teachings. We trusted him with our children, while all along, he had secretly been trying to do whatever he could to subvert the Catholic teachings. So, no, he does not belong at a Catholic school.

Do you honestly believe he had been there for years just to subvert Catholic teachings? I know what he said in the 5 second clip and it was wrong, but given his years as an educator do you think these 5 seconds represents all you need to know to judge the man?

I have worked at abc news, Reuters, AP and cnn.

Project veritas is a troll army with zero journalistic standards who warp their footage to an extent not possible to even articulate and deserve zero regard or attention. Don’t give them the credence of this thread. They are truly truly gross people.

Yes, this is widely known. But if a vocal group of parents wants to get rid of a teacher who seems suspicious it sure is nice to have a deceptive PV video on hand to use for their cause.

Those words came out of his mouth, and were recorded. So yeah, I believe him.

I'm a parent there, and no one was trying to get rid of him. What he caused to happen to him is all on him.

Stone Ridge's parents are Project Veritas' consumers.

That’s very sad, we’re all sinners and I hope no one ever judges you on the worst 5 seconds recorded while disregarding your years of performance. I hope our girls are learning more about forgiveness than this suggests.
