I think a lot of us are working hard to be in denial about how dangerous many of those who walk and drive among us are.

The general vibe of lawlessness and politicians ignoring or enabling it pose real dangers.
A sociopath can exist anywhere, so this isn’t really illustrative of anything. If you personally want to stop walking or move to a neighborhood where everyone drives, that’s fine.
The drivers regularly blowing through red lights/stop signs is a different issue, which needs better enforcement.
